MOCK EXAMS
Mock exams for students in Years 11 and 13 begin next Monday, 12th January. Timetables have been published with the locations of each exam. Students must check the timetables very carefully and resolve any questions about times and places before the end of today. The normal lesson timetables for Years 11 and 13 are suspended for the next fortnight. Students taking modular courses in Year 13 should attend the lessons which have been specially timetabled. Following the exams, there will be parent-teacher consultation meetings for both year groups, for Year 13 on Thursday 3rd February and for Year 11 on Thursday 10th February, both starting at 5.30 pm.

CHARITIES WEEK
This year's Charities Week is from 14th-18th February, the week before the half-term break. We are aiming to raise £5,000 for 'Childline' to enable ten children from the Chernobyl area of Belarus to spend a month here this summer.

Now is the time to think of events and activities which can help raise money. We expect that the usual favourites such as 'Stars in their Eyes' will reappear, but these have to be organised and publicised. Mr Banfield is co-ordinating Charities Week this year and will be pleased to hear of any proposals which will make this year's efforts the best ever.

'CABARET'
There is a whole-cast music rehearsal after school next Monday, 10th January, in Room 55. Cast members should continue to check the studio notice-board for rehearsal details.
MILLENNIUM BOOK
CNS intends to mark the millennium with a book in which the names and signatures of all governors, staff and students will be recorded. Over the next few weeks, Year Heads and Form Tutors will arrange for the recording of students' signatures on printed sheets which will then be bound professionally.

SCHOOL FUND
On Tuesday of next week, all students will be issued with a letter to take home to parents, requesting contributions to the School Fund. The Fund exists to help subsidise activities, trips and visits, to allow students who otherwise could not afford the cost of some activities to be able to take advantage of all opportunities and to pay for the cost of a free copy of the school magazine for all students.

BADMINTON
Congratulations to Charity Barnes of 9Bs, who has been selected to represent the English Schools' U15 Badminton team in a tournament in Mantes La Jolie, France, on 13th-16th January.

WELCOME
A warm welcome to Mrs Sue Hughes, who has joined the Library staff, replacing Mrs Una Palmer who retired at the end of last term. Mrs Hughes has helped out in the Library on past occasions and we hope that she will enjoy her time at the school. .

JUMBLE SALE
The Association Jumble Sale will take place on Saturday 22nd January. Jumble can be left at the school office at any time: more details in next week's Echo.
