HALF TERM
The half term holiday begins after school today, Friday 18th February. Students return after the break on Tuesday 29th February at 8.45 am: Monday 28th February is a staff training day.

YEAR 10
The parent-teacher consultation meeting for Year 10 takes place on Thursday 2nd March from 5.30 pm onwards. The meeting is only three school days away and we hope that students have already arranged appointments with their teachers.

CHARITIES WEEK
Charities Week is in full flow and may well be the best ever! Morning breaks have been dominated by sales of cakes, sweets, ice-cream and drinks: a sponsored weight loss over half term might be appropriate! The slave auction is set to raise over £500 and many slaves are waiting with some apprehension to see what will be required of them by their masters. The Y8 & Y9 talent contest, 'Burly Shassey' and 'Teachers' Blind Date' drew large audiences in the Drama Area - and made a lot of money. At the time of writing, the big crowd-pleasers, 'Man o Man' and 'Stars in their Eyes', have yet to take place, but we expect packed audiences in the Sports Hall for these perennial favourites.

As always, the week has been tremendous fun - but please don't forget what it is for. Please spend the half term break and the first week in school chasing any sponsorship money which has been pledged. The more money we raise, the better the experience we can provide for the children of Belarus who will be with us in July.
HEADSHIP APPOINTMENT
On Wednesday 1st March, Thursday 2nd March and Friday 3rd March, the governors' selection panel will be interviewing candidates who have applied to take over from Dr Elkins in September as Head of CNS. The candidates will be in school on the Wednesday and Thursday and will be visiting classrooms and all areas of the school, meeting a large number of students in the process.

EATON ROAD PETITION
Thanks to all students and parents who have signed the petition asking for safety measures to be applied to Eaton Road. The petitions will be given to the City Council to support the Head's letter on the matter. Dr Elkins is meeting with Mr Andy Watt from Norwich City Council early after half term and the Echo will inform everybody of the next steps in the process.

SPORT
Congratulations to Joe Cowan of Year 13 who has been invited to trials for the East of England U21 hockey team. Joe is 18, so this is a significant achievement. Congratulations, too, to David Meier, also of Year 13, who has been a constant member of the county U19 football squad. The U19 Norfolk team has reached the quarter-finals of the national cup competition- the first time in 30 years that Norfolk has got this far.

'WHAM' PROJECT
Posters are up inviting teams of students aged between 11 and 16 to involve themselves in community projects. There are excellent prizes: if you might be interested, pick up a leaflet from the office.
