HEADTEACHER APPOINTMENT
The Governors have appointed Mr Gordon Boyd, presently Deputy Head at Hinchingbrooke School, Huntingdon, to succeed Dr Elkins as Headteacher from 1st September 2000.

The post attracted candidates from across the country and the appointment followed three days of intensive selection procedures last week. The Governors have great confidence in the decision they have made and Mr Boyd is delighted at the prospect of running CNS.

BEST EVER CHARITIES WEEKI
The amount which has been banked so far is £5,800, which exceeds significantly our optimistic target of £5,000 and beats the previous record for Charities Week by over £1,000 .. and there is still money to be handed in!

Congratulations to everybody: this is a tremendous reflection of the spirit of compassion which is within CNS and the willingness of its students and, teachers to reach out to those in need. Mr Banfield should take great pride in the fact that his promotion of the charity and his organisation of activities and events should have had such a positive outcome. We can give the children of Belarus four memorable weeks when they stay with us in the summer.

YEAR 11 PHOTOGRAPH
The group photograph of Year 11 students is now available from the Finance Office, on any, day before school and at morning break, price £10. Cheques should be made payable to CNS School Fund Account. The mount of the photograph contains the names of all the students and tutors who were there on the day and looks very good indeed. All profits from the sale of the photos will be added to the Charities Week fund.
SCHOOL ASSOCIATION
Details of the Drugs Awareness meeting for parents next Tuesday, 14th March, at 7.30 pm and the Quiz Evening on Saturday week, 18 March, are printed on the back of the Echo.

EATON ROAD
Yesterday Dr Elkins met Mr Andy Watt of Norwich City Council to share the concern of staff, students and parents about the risks of Eaton Road and to ask for safety measures to be introduced as a matter of urgency. Thanks to all the students and parents who signed the petition which was handed to Mr Watt. News of the meeting will appear in next week's Echo.

MENINGITIS IMMUNISATION
Apologies to those students who were scheduled to be immunised on Wednesday: the school was told by the Health Authority that the vaccine had not arrived. A revised schedule was drawn up and all students should have been immunised yesterday.

BUILDINGS
The Governors are working very hard to draw attention to the need to address the building deficiencies at CNS. Following a presentation by an LEA officer at the last governors' meeting, the Chairman, Albert Mills. has met with Charles Clarke, MP, and has sent letters to the Director of Education, the County Councillor for Eaton, Gordon Dean and other senior Councillors. If responses are not positive, an action group will be formed to put further pressure on those responsible for the state of school buildings.

'CABARET'
The first night of the school production took place yesterday: a full write-up will appear in next week's Echo.
