BELARUS VISITORS
Families who have agreed to host the children from Belarus, who will be in Norwich in late June and July, have met twice this week. On Tuesday, Mr Victor Mizzi, the organiser of the charity within which the CNS venture will operate, briefed families on the issues which are relevant to the visit and on Wednesday families met to discuss the issues which arose out of the briefing.

The really good news is that we confidently expect the final figure from Charities Week to exceed £6,000, which will enable us to provide a full programme of activities, trips and visits for the children. Thanks, too, to Mr Banfield who, in addition to running Charities Week, is coordinating all the arrangements for the visit.

PUBLIC SPEAKING
On Thursday 16th March two teams represented CNS at a public speaking competition, 'Youth Speaks', held at Hewett School. A bravura performance by the Year 9 team of Jake Newman, Owen Reading and Lily Rumsey was rewarded with the second prize. The Year 10 team (Lucy Hale, Jess Hiscocks and Sophie Lord) was particularly commanded in the judge's sumniingup for the excellence of individual contributions and teamwork.

The standard of competition was very high, so congratulations to our teams - and to Mrs Marjoram for her support and help in enabling the teams to do so well.

TOKENS
From Monday April 10th the Evening News. in association with British Gas, will be publishing 'School Wheels' tokens which will qualify schools to claim some big prizes, the best being a new minibus. Please collect the tokens: a collecting box will be on the stage.
SCHOOL ASSOCIATION
Last Saturday's Quiz Evening was, as always, a great success, raising £492. This is the eighteenth Quiz which Mrs Brenda Clarke has provided for the Association, raising over £7,000 for the school! Thanks to Mrs Clarke and to all who came to the Quiz.

The next Association venture will be a 'first' at CNS. On Saturday 8th April, we hope that parents will join us for a 'paint-in', when we aim to redecorate two classrooms. Two form groups will benefit from their new environment - and we hope that students from those form groups will encourage their parents to take part.

DOME EXPERIENCE
Next Tuesday. 28th March, eighteen Year 10 students will be taking part in a performance at the Millennium Dome in Greenwich. The CNS students, together with students from Taverham High School and KES, Kings Lynn, will form a cast of seventy-three performers and will stage a show which reflects aspects of Norfolk in terms of land, sea and city. There will be three public performances at the Dome on Tuesday and a chance to see the show locally later in the term. More details on this opportunity in a future Echo.

ROYAL DATE
On Wednesday Heidi Sweeney (10 Kr) was at Buckingham Palace, meeting the Princess Royal. Heidi has gained the Grand Prior Award, the highest recognition of achievement for a cadet in the St John Ambulance Brigade.

To gain the award, Heidi had to complete twelve courses on a wide range of subjects, most of which centred on advanced First Aid. Congratulations to Heidi - we hope that other students will be encouraged to become St John cadets.
