SCHOOL ASSOCIATION
An enthusiastic Annual General Meeting took place on Wednesday evening. News of the Association's work through the year was shared and a new committee, chaired by Polly Poliakoff, elected. A project of great interest to families - 'Safer and Healthier Routes to Schools' - was launched. More about this in due course.

Tickets are now available for the 'Body Shop' evening from CNSA committee members and the School Office. The event takes place on Tuesday 10 October at 7.15pm in the Sixth Form Common Room.

CNS SCHOOL PLANNER
A specially customised CNS Planner has been produced and will shortly be issued to all students in Years 8 to 11. With effective use, the CNS Planner will aid personal organisation and communication between school and home. Once issued, it will be a standard expectation that all students have their CNS Planners with them in every lesson. Use of the CNS Planner will contribute to the students' Record of Achievement. On a weekly basis, parents are asked to sign the CNS Planner and to respond to any messages that are noted there. Form Tutors will endeavour to do the same.

The cost of CNS Planners (£3 each) is being borne by the School because we believe that this is an excellent way of encouraging good study habits. Please complete and return to your son or daughter's tutor the slip overleaf to indicate that the CNS Planner has been received. Because of the costs involved, we have not ordered additional copies and students are therefore urged to take good care of their Planners.
LOCKERS
All students requiring a locker should have paid their fee by Friday 6 October. Any lockers not paid for by then will be allocated to other students. Members of Years 9 to 11 who do not not wish to retain their locker should return their key to Mr Burns. (£2 is required to cover the cost of replacement of a key that has been lost.)

MINIBUS FUND
As a result of the successful Summer Fete, the School Association has managed to hand over a cheque for £2,500 for the school minibus fund. This is a most welcome contribution, especially since it means that the cost of the purchase of our new minibus has now been covered in full.

FIRST EDITION
Two Year 9 students - Alex Pott and Polly Preston - have been selected from a large number of applicants to be studio interviewers for the Channel Four programme First Edition. The programme deals with news and current affairs and with issues of citizenship. It is presented by Jon Snow and will be broadcast later in the year.

YEAR 12
The ceremony for the award of prizes and commendations to students of last year's CNS Year 11 will take place at 7.30 pm on Thursday 5th October. Award winners have been notified and are asked to ensure that the return slips are handed in to confirm attendance.

GERMAN EXCHANGE
German visitors left early on Thursday morning to return to Koblenz. Thank you to all students and staff for making this a memorable and successful visit. A book Rheinland-Pfalz has been donated by our visitors for the school library.
