YEAR 8 TUTOR EVENING
There was an excellent turnout of parents at the Year 8 evening on Thursday last week. Tutors had the chance to speak to parents about school routines and parents of students in the same Form were able to meet each other on an informal basis. Thank you for coming and thank you to the Year 8 team and to the School Association for hosting the event.

GOVERNOR NOMINATIONS
Following nominations, Mrs Cecile Piper is appointed as Parent Governor. Mr Clennell and Mr Millington are appointed as Teacher Governors. The first meeting of the Governing Body this school year is on Monday 9 October.

DANISH EXCHANGE
For the first time, CNS is participating with Sprowston High School in an exchange with Vorrevangskolen in Aarhus. 23 students in Year 9 are participating with a return visit to Denmark during Spring half-term. Our visitors arrive on Thursday and activities include trips to Aquapark and to a West End Show.

WORK EXPERIENCE IN GERMANY
An exciting development of our long-standing partnership with Gymnasium auf dem Asterstein starts this weekend. A group of 17 and 18-year old German students arrive to undertake work placements including editorial and advertising work at The Evening News, marketing at May Gurney and work at a local solicitor's firm. Eight CNS students will return to Koblenz next term. The scheme, pioneered by Ms Wind, is currently open to A level German students.
MEDIA STUDIES VISITS
All Sixth Form Media Studies students attended a seminar last Wednesday morning at Cinema City. The focus of the seminar was Film Genre with an emphasis on horror.

CHILDREN'S BOOK WEEK
To mark this event, popular author Malcolm Rose visited on Wednesday to talk to Year 8 students. Mr Rose's work - mainly crime thrillers that appeal to young adults - is well known. Students were able to question him about his novels and about his inspiration. As young writers themselves, they were able to discuss with him their own story and poetry writing. Thank you to Mrs Fletcher for organising this visit.

HOT CHOCOLATE MORNING
Mrs Taylor and Sixth Form students organised a Hot Choclate (plus marshmallows!) morning last Friday. £80 was raised in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief. Planning for School Charities Week - 4 to 8 December - will begin after half term.

1915 SPORTS MEDAL
A medal - won by J.E.F. Fox, a pupil at CNS in 1915 - has been presented to the School by his niece, Miss Grace Goreham.
The inscription reads : "Athletic Sports (Walpole House) 3rd 440 yds Under 15, 3rd (equal) 100yds Under 14". It is fascinating to receive this kind of memento, a reminder of the proud history of CNS.
