CHARITIES WEEK
Preparations for Charities Week, Monday 4th December to Friday 8th December, are now well underway. We are delighted to announce that, following voting by students across the school, the project to be supported this year by CNS is the Norwich Night Shelter. St Martin's Housing Trust, the charity that funds the night shelter, is mounting an appeal to replace the present shelter with a new 24 hour centre. Information about this project will be discussed with students in Assemblies and PEP during the next two weeks. Ideas for fund raising projects during the week should be discussed with Form Tutors and then passed on to Mrs Seddon, who is co-ordinating activities.

SPORTING SUCCESSES
Many fixtures have been played so far this term and notable successes achieved. The two girls' Football teams remain in their respective cup competitions and we wish them well in the challenging rounds that follow. The Under 16 Netball team won the Norwich and District tournament and now go on to represent the City in the Norfolk Championships on 25th November. Team members are Katie Locke, Rose Wood, Danielle Webster, Nicola Ramsden, Helen Varley, Tara Medlar, Jo Keatley, Hannah Smith and Cathy Harrison.

We also congratulate the following students on being selected to represent Norfolk at Football : Under 15 - James Hazell, Simon Jervis, Gavin Coe, Robert Whalen; Under 16 - David Tyrie; Under 19 - Jordan Mace. Good luck in the forthcoming County games!

LIBRARY SKILLS
Year 8 students have received training in library skills by a tutor from the Schools Library Service. This will equip students to make good use of our resources and those available elsewhere, including on-line.
SCHOOL COUNCIL
The School Council meets next Wednesday 22nd November at 1.15 (period 5) in Room 55.

POEMS FOR NOVI SAD
Next Tuesday, student contributors to a recently produced anthology will attend a reception at City Hall.

WORLDWISE QUIZ
The Norfolk round of the Geographical Association's annual competition was hosted at CNS last Thursday 9th November. Ten schools from across the County took part and following the elimination stage of questioning four schools (King Edward VII School, Cromer High School, Litcham High School and CNS) were subjected to a rigorous question panel chaired by Mrs Seddon.

After some stiff competition, the CNS team (Owen Reading, David Wilson and Barry Grimes) won the day, beating KES by 6 points. Congratulations to our team who now represent Norfolk in the East Midlands/East Anglian final to be held in the Spring. Thank you to Mr Stannard and the Geography team for organising an excellent event.

'PERICLES'
Pericles, the dwarves and the cast are busy rehearsing for our Christmas production. All you need to do is to buy a ticket for a fun-filled evening. Tickets for sale in the Hall from 12.45 each lunchtime. Price £3.

WELCOME EVENINGS
Students in Year 7 and their parents are being welcomed to CNS this week and next. A great deal of support has been received from our own students. The enthusiasm and warmth of your welcome help to give an excellent impression of our school. Thank you.
