YEAR 8 INTAKE MEETINGS
Recently, Year 7 students from middle schools and their parents have attended meetings at which CNS is open to visitors. Thanks to all students who are helping at the meetings. We know that our visitors found the meetings enjoyable and interesting.

SCHOOL ASSOCIATION QUIZ
Details of the School Association's Quiz Evening on Saturday 25th November have already been published. More information : phone 625084.

WORLD PREMIERE
Yesterday, CNS musicians (Polly Preston, Lucy Hale, Laura Bargewell, Oscar Cash, Andrew Fitzgerald, Anna Garlick, Amy Glover, Victoria Preece and Lucy Smith) played with the John Mayer Indo-Jazz Fusion band at the Norwich Arts Centre as part of the East Coast Jazz Festival. Included in the performance was a piece especially written for CNS musicians by John Mayer, incorporating Indian ragas and jazz improvisation. Congratulations to all involved in this unusual achievement.

PERICLES
The cast and crew of 'Pericles and the Dwarves of Tyre' rehearsed on Saturday and will be in school again next Sunday. In between times, they will be busy learning lines, memorising cues and rehearsing hard. The show opens on 30th November and we have a second performance on 1st December. Tickets are selling fast so to be sure of a seat bring £3 to the Hall at dinner time.

BICYCLE SECURITY
Please secure your bicycle carefully and use the locked sheds as far as possible. It is important that all bikes brought to school are properly insured.
INTERNATIONAL MATHS YEAR 2000
Parents and students are invited to attend a Workshop hosted by Norfolk County Council on Tuesday 5 December. The workshop is a local celebration of National Number Day and takes place at the Norwich Professional Development Centre at Woodside Road. Come and be inspired through a host of mathematical ideas and activities. You are invited to 'drop in' between 4.30pm and 6.30pm.

SUNDAY TIMES GUIDE
We were delighted to be featured in the recent 'Sunday Times Guide to Good State Schools' (12th November 2000). Entries are based on examination success and our inclusion results from the excellent results achieved this Summer at CNS. It is also very pleasing to note that in the recently published official examination results CNS students taking the General National Vocational Qualification (GNVQ) achieved high standards and did exceptionally well in comparison with other County Schools.

YEAR 10 WORK EXPERIENCE
An introductory meeting is planned for Wednesday 6th December at 7.30pm in the Hall. The event is designed to explain to parents the planning and guidance process that leads up to Work Experience that takes place in the first two weeks of July. A letter from Ms Wind, Work Experience Co-ordinator, has been sent home about this event. Please reply in good time so that we can prepare sufficient materials for the evening.

VISIT TO 'THE TEMPEST'
Thank you to English staff for organising a successful visit to The Barbican last Friday. A coach-full of Sixth Formers and teachers attended.
