CHARITIES WEEK IS NEXT …
A host of activities - ranging from 'Blind Date' to 'Stars in Your Eyes' - is planned throughout next week in our annual fund-raising campaign. This year we are supporting St Martin's Housing Trust, the charity that runs the Norwich Night Shelter. Please give generously to the many events that are planned to support this worthy cause.

Fatboy Slim (aka Norman Cook) has generously donated a record box to raise funds. The box, which has travelled with him around the world for the last 13 years, has souvenir stickers from the countries he has visited and is a unique memento which will undoubtedly increase in value. Christie's, the London auctioneers, who have a special pop memorabilia department, have advised us that a conservative valuation would be £250 to £350. We are holding an auction, closing date Friday 8 December at midday. Bids are invited by letter, fax or e-mail to the school office.

CHRISTMAS LUNCH
Christmas lunch will be served on Tuesday 14th December. The price of the lunch is £2.20 and staff and students must purchase a ticket from the Finance Office before Monday 4th December.

SIXTH FORM CONFERENCE
On Friday last week, 200 students from schools around the region came to CNS to hear Dr Peter Vardy from Heythrop College, London, speak on topics related to philosophy and ethics. Dr Vardy is a speaker of international renown and his stimulating lectures were enjoyed by all.

CNSU DINNER
The Annual Dinner of the CNS Union takes place in the School Hall on Friday, 4th December at 7.30 for 8.00pm. The evening will include a presentation by former students to Dr Tom Elkins in recognition of his outstanding service to CNS.
HOLOCAUST EXHIBITION
'Why did nobody do anything?' was the question asked by many Year 11 students as they left the Holocaust exhibition at the Imperial War Museum. Many stated that despite everything they had learnt about the holocaust they had not realised how horrendous it had been until visiting the exhibition this week. Thank you to the RE team for leading the visits.

SCHOOL ASSOCIATION QUIZ
Thank you to everyone who came to the Quiz last weekend. The evening had a wonderful atmosphere with so many people taking part and it raised an amazing £650. Particular thanks must go to Brenda Clarke and her team for yet again preparing and running the quiz for the School Association. Over the years Brenda has helped to raise nearly £8000 for the Association. The next Quiz is on March 17th 2001.

'PERICLES'
Tickets for the Lower School production of 'Pericles and the Dwarves of Tyre' are selling fast for Thursday and Friday. The show promises to be extremely successful thanks to the hard work of those involved. A review of the show will appear in next week's edition of The Echo.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT
The concert takes place in the Hall on Wednesday 13 December at 7.30pm. A stimulating programme involving many CNS musicians is in the final stages of rehearsal. Admission is by programme, cost £3.

ENGLAND HONOUR
Jonathan Elsegood in Year 11 has recently returned from Seattle, USA, where he represented England in a football world championship. The youngest member of the squad, he even scored against the USA! Congratulations, Jonathan!
