SPECIALIST SCHOOL APPEAL
All families should have received through the post a leaflet about our bid to become a Specialist Technology College. We hope that you agree that this is a worthwhile project and one from which all students could benefit. If we are to succeed we need a concerted effort NOW to raise the £50,000 needed.

Remember, if we are successful every £1 we raise locally will be matched by £12 from the Government. All contributions will be gratefully received as will suggestions about other contacts we might pursue. Please return the reply slip with your contribution by Monday 22 January. If you did not receive a leaflet - or need a new one - please phone the School Office.

MOCK EXAMS
The mock exams for Years 11 and 13 start in two weeks time on Monday 5 February. Please be sure to check the details published on the school examinations board.

JUMBLE SALE
The School Association's Jumble Sale takes place tomorrow, Saturday 20th January, at 1.30 pm in Eaton Parish Hall on Colman Road. Thanks to those who have already provided jumble for the sale… but it's still not too late for others to bring items along. Committee members will be at the Parish Hall from 10.00 am onwards and will be pleased to receive any further donations. If anyone is able to help in the morning or the afternoon (or both!), they will be welcomed.

NEW COMMUNITY WEBSITE
A new website for the Eaton area has been launched recently. For access, contact http://www.eaton-local.co.uk.
BUS STOP DANGER
First Eastern Counties Bus Company have expressed great concern about the danger that some students put themselves in by surging forward at the bus stop on Newmarket Road. Serious injury is likely if this dangerous practice continues. Moreover, if the bus company continues to have concerns they will simply cease to pick up passengers at the stop in question.

HOLIDAYS
We have received guidance from the Local Education Authority that reinforces our position about holidays taken during term time. We actively discourage parents from taking students on holiday during term time because of the negative effects that this has on learning and progress. If there are exceptional circumstances, please speak to the relevant Head of Year as soon as possible. Please be aware that LEA and School policy is that permission will not normally be granted.

DOG CATCHERS
Thanks to Alexis Zelley, Claire Talbot and Keiran O'Grady!

YEAR 12 PARENTS' EVENING
The Year 12 Parents' Evening takes place on Thursday 1 February. This will give parents an opportunity to talk to individual subject teachers following the general picture they will have acquired at the Academic Review Day in December. Further information will be distributed shortly by Mr Pierce.

CYCLE SECURITY
Please be vigilant. If you spot any suspicious behaviour, please inform a teacher without delay.
