HALF TERM
The half term holiday begins after school next Friday, 16th February. Students return after the break on Tuesday 27th February at 8.45 am: Monday 26th February is a staff training day.

PETITION
Following discussion at the CNSA Annual General Meeting and by the School Governors, a petition has been raised about the dangers posed by traffic on Eaton Road. The petition is being sent to the joint Highways Committee of the City Council and County Council and we hope that it will receive attention at the committee's next meeting. Thank you to all parents who have signed the petition at parent-teacher evenings over the past months.

The School Council's recent petition on the same issue will be forwarded in addition. We intend to keep the issue high profile and we know that Eaton Road residents intend to do likewise. Please would everyone - drivers and pedestrians - exercise extreme caution on approaching or leaving the school gate.

THE CRUCIBLE
This year's senior production is 'The Crucible', Arthur Miller's gripping play about fear and justice. Tickets for 'The Crucible' will be on sale in the School Hall at lunchtimes. Performances will be on 1st, 2nd and 3rd March and early purchase of tickets is recommended since seats are limited.

YOUTH BAND
The South Norfolk Youth Symphonic Band will be playing in the local round of the National Festival of Music for Youth on 16 February. Three CNS students - Claire Arnup, Holly Bowen and Naomi Bowen - will be participating and we wish them luck.
COMPUTERS FOR SCHOOLS
We are participating in Tesco's 'Computers for Schools' scheme which has enabled us to purchase a good deal of equipment in previous years. Please collect vouchers at the checkout and place them in the box in the School Hall. Every voucher counts!

EQUIPMENT FOR SCHOOLS
Not to be outdone, Sainsbury's has launched its own scheme to help schools. A simple registration system results in points automatically being credited for CNS every time you use your Sainsbury's Reward Card. This is in addition to the normal points that you gain by using a Reward Card. Registration forms are available from Tutors. Thanks for your help.

NATIONAL NO SMOKING DAY
The annual campaign is scheduled for 14 March. Displays of work and posters are planned and leaflets from the local Health Authority will be available. Information on 'How to Stop' will be disseminated and cards with 'Quitline' telephone numbers will be available.

TECHNOLOGY BID
We have been delighted by the response of families and friends of the school in raising money and pledges towards our bid to become Norwich's first Technology College. We are on the way to achieving our target of £50,000 but we still need the urgent assistance of families who have not yet contributed but would like to. Please could we ask that all contributions - large or small - are received by half term. The bid, that will enhance learning facilities for CNS, for other local schools and for Adult Education groups, will be sent to the Department for Education and Employment on 28th February.
