HALF TERM
The half term holiday begins after school today, Friday 16th February. Students return after the break on Tuesday 27th February at 8.45 am: Monday 26th February is a staff training day.

YEAR 13
The parent-teacher consultation meeting for Year 13 takes place on Thursday 8th March from 5.30 pm onwards. Students should make appointments with teachers at mutually convenient times.

EATON ROAD PETITION
Thanks to all students and parents who have signed the petition asking for safety measures to be applied to Eaton Road. The petition has now been sent to the City Council.

SPORT
The Under 15 Football team beat Wymondham High Scool 2-0 in last week's cup match. Goals were scored by Gavin Coe and Sam Aldis. It was a fine team effort.

BID FOR SPECIALIST STATUS
Our detailed bid to the Government to become a Technology College is nearing completion, thanks to the hard work of many teachers. Parents, Governors and friends of the school have been very active, too, in giving freely of their time and expertise to help us raise the necessary funding. We are almost there! There has been much publicity this week about possibilities for the Specialist School scheme over the next few years. We hope to be successful this time : if we are not, we will need to consider the alternatives available.

Nick Green's friends and family are in our thoughts as this half term comes to an end.
TO RUSSIA - WITH LOVE
Mr John will be taking a party of Sixth Form historians to Russia over the half-term holiday. During the six day visit our students will be staying in St Petersburg and Moscow. Sites of particular interest will be The Hermitage (where part of the 18th Century Walpole collection of paintings resides), the Kremlin, the tomb of Lenin, the Bolshoi Ballet and a number of magnificent cathedrals and churches. Thermal underwear is compulsory.

MOCK EXAMS
Y11 and Y13 Mocks end today. Those who missed papers for any reason : please see Mr Rix or Mr Pierce to arrange a re-sit.

THE CRUCIBLE
The cast and crew of this year's senior production, 'The Crucible', have been working hard to prepare for the performances on 1st, 2nd and 3rd March. Rehearsals are going well and a highly charged piece of drama is in prospect. Tickets are on sale in the School Hall at lunchtimes. Early purchase of tickets is recommended since seats are limited.

SEAT BELT CAMPAIGN
Norfolk County Council has launched a campaign to draw attention to additional legislation regarding car seat belts. In the front seat, all passengers must wear a seat belt. It is illegal for a child to sit on the lap of an adult travelling in the front seat, or to travel in the front seat unrestrained. Children aged 12 or 13 travelling in the rear seats must wear a seat belt, if one is available. (If a seat belt is not available in the rear of a vehicle but one is available in the front, a child must use the one in the front.) Further details on all this : Norfolk Road Safety 01603 223348.
