NICK GREEN
On Monday afternoon family and friends, including many students and teachers from CNS, attended Nick Green's funeral at St Andrew's Church in Eaton. A dignified and moving service marked Nick's passing and paid tribute to his many distinctive qualities. Ideas about how we might recognise his achievements at CNS are being discussed amongst Sixth Formers. Our thoughts remain with Nick's family as they begin to come to terms with their great loss.

TECHNOLOGY COLLEGE BID
Following a great deal of hard work by many teachers, parents and Governors our bid to become a Specialist School is nearing completion. Particular gratitude goes to Mr Roderick whose painstaking co-ordination has resulted in some impressive development plans. The bid, that comprises over 200 pages of plans and supporting documents, will be delivered to the Department for Education in London this morning.

The sponsorship appeal, in spite of the short time that we had available, has been successful. Through a combination of contributions by parents and friends of the school and sponsorship by local businesses we have achieved the £50,000 necessary. We are particularly fortunate to have benefited from the generosity of a former student at CNS whose contribution enabled us to exceed our target. Thank you all for your support and encouragement. We now wait for the outcome, expected early in the Summer term.

SCHOOL ASSOCIATION
On Saturday 10 March at 11am in the School Hall the School Association is organising a 50:50 Auction. And on Saturday 17 March at 7.30pm a Quiz Night is planned, tickets for which are available in the School Office. Details of both events overleaf.
RETURN FROM RUSSIA
An outstanding highlight of last week's Sixth Form trip to Russia was the visit to a secondary school in Moscow - School 1416. Gifts were exchanged, a football match of sorts played (we won 3-1!) and cheerfully erudite conversations in English with young Russian students over tea and cakes. And the thermal underwear? Definitely needed - it reached -20C. Thanks to Mr John for leading a memorable expedition.

NORFOLK MUSIC FESTIVAL
Both our Jazz Band and our Salsa Group were given 'highly commended' by the adjudicator in the Norfolk Music Festival this week. As a result, both groups are invited to play in the Festival Concert at Hellesdon High School on Sunday 11 March at 2.30pm. Congratulations to the musicians involved.

WORLD BOOK DAY
Thursday this week was World Book Day. All students will receive a book voucher for £1 to mark this important event. For every voucher used at Jarrold's Book Department, 50p will be given towards school library books. So make the most of your voucher, enjoy whatever books you buy and, if you can, redeem your voucher at Jarrold's!

MOST LIKELY TO ….
Charity Barnes, now ranked second in English girls' Under 15 badminton, has been selected for the first world-class performance training squad of young high flyers for possible involvement in future Olympic Games. We will continue to follow Charity's sporting career with great expectation.
