WORLDWISE QUIZ
Over the past three weeks the Regional Finals of the Geographical Association's national competition have been taking place. Over 500 schools from England, Wales and Northern Ireland are involved. The CNS team, winners of the Norfolk round, represented the county in the East Anglia and East Midlands final held in Cambridge last Thursday. Other schools competing were Ipswich School, The Perse School from Cambridge, Oundle School from Northamptonshire and Caistor Grammar School from Lincolnshire. Rounds included 'Have I got Geographical News for You' and 'Blockbusters', similar to the TV quiz programmes but with a geographical slant!

Caistor, Perse and CNS all won through to the 6 round final and CNS took the lead by two marks in the final moments on an answer that had to go to the adjudicator. This exciting victory for CNS means that our team will now compete in the National Final at the University of Sussex on Monday 9 April. Many congratulations to Owen Reading 10Sp, David Wilson 10Sp and Barry Grimes 10Bl. The team organiser is Mr Stannard.

SPRING CONCERT
Rehearsals all week bode well for this evening's Spring Concert. The event takes place in the School Hall at 7.30pm. 50:50 AUCTION A great deal of time and energy was invested by members of the School Association last Saturday to mount a public Auction.

Under the hammer were many curios and Anne Roderick's skills as auctioneer resulted in over 300 lots being processed during the morning. Thanks to Anne and to all friends of the school who helped or participated. The event raised over £800 for CNSA funds.

Y11 Parents' Evening is on 29 March
FOOT & MOUTH DISEASE
During the present crisis that has hit the farming industry so badly, various restrictions on travel to and from school have been implemented. Some difficulties may be encountered for students who use public rights of way on agricultural land. Please let us know of particular problems. A helpline has been set up by Norfolk County Council to give advice : 01603 222077.
During the crisis, adults and children must keep away from agricultural or forested land. This includes short-cuts along farm tracks and public footpaths next to farm land or forests.

SHAPE OF THE SCHOOL WEEK
We have been planning next year's school curriculum to make sure that we offer the best range of choices for our students. Parents of Year 9 students will shortly receive an invitation to a meeting on Thursday 5 April to hear about GCSE Choices. In order to offer the best curriculum within the limited space we have at CNS, we will have to make some small changes to the shape of the school week, from September. A letter will be sent home next Tuesday or Wednesday about this and a meeting will be held on Wednesday 4 April to provide fuller details.

PREPARING FOR EXAMS
On Thursday evening, many Y11 students who have estimated D grades in one or more subject attended a presentation on how Ds can be converted into Cs. The tips and Revision Pack provided on Thursday will be available for all students in Year 11 within the next few days. An essential part of exam preparation is the construction of a clear revision programme. Advice on this was included on Thursday evening and will be repeated for other students shortly.
