SCHOOL ASSOCIATION
Last Saturday's Quiz raised £647.90. Jane John co-ordinated the event and ensured a well organised and entertaining evening. Thanks to the School Association and to all who came to the Quiz.

SPRING CONCERT
Once again, an appreciative and enthusiastic audience were treated to an exciting variety of music last Friday evening. In a programme that was shorter than usual, because of the earlier timing of this and next term's concerts, there was consistently high quality of performance over an impressive range of styles. From the Jazzers and the Salsa Band to the two Orchestras by way of the Choir and the Guitar Group, the evening ranged over many composers, including Benjamin Britten, the Beatles and Miles Davis. Congratulations to all the performers and their teachers and thanks to the School Association for providing refreshment throughout the evening. Our reviewer : Susan Seddon.

WEST END APPEARANCE
CNS students took to the stage of Her Majesty's Theatre in London on Sunday 11 March. The following successfully auditioned and took part in the Royal Children's Variety Performance : Charlotte Malynn and Rosie Dudley (Year 10), Amanda Nicholls, Bonnie Wood, Ellie Larke, Katie Utting and Kate Martin (Year 12). The performance was a great success and the acts well received. Well done to the performers on this outstanding achievement.

LEARNING JOURNEY
The Government's support material for parents is available at www.parents.dfee.gov.uk A booklet, 'Learning Journey', portrays the school curriculum in clear and simple terms.
D GRADERS
A large audience of Year 11 students and parents attended a presentation last Thursday on 'Preparing for Exams'. The revision packs - that include guides for all GCSE subjects - will shortly be available to all Year 11 students. At the Year 11 Consultation evening next Thursday, 29 March, the Revision Pack and other material will be on display. A bookstall, offering recommended published materials, will also be available. Please bring cash if you wish to make any purchases.

CURRICULUM 2001
On Wednesday, a letter was sent home to all families explaining our plans for the curriculum and the shape of the school week from September 2001. We believe that the pattern offers a framework that provides as much continuity as possible through the week. It will also enable us to offer a broad and relevant curriculum to all students. There will be a meeting on Wednesday 4 April at 7.30pm to explain in more detail the reasons for this plan. The meeting will be held in the Sixth Form Common Room. If you would like to attend, please return the reply slip on the letter to the School Office in order that we can make the necessary practical arrangements.

SCHOOL UNIFORM
Governors have recently discussed the CNS School Uniform and the possibility of some reform. As a school, we need to decide whether to retain the existing arrangements or whether to adapt these. Staff will be seeking the views of students over the next few weeks. The views of parents will be important, too, and therefore the meeting on Wednesday 4 April (see above) will include a short presentation of some of the issues and provide an opportunity for parents to express their views.
