YEAR 11
Today is the last day of lessons for Year 11: study leave begins after the weekend. Today is not a leaving date for Year 11: all students have exam commitments and most are returning to the Sixth Form. Next week there are oral exams in French and German for all students: students must keep strictly to the timetable and arrive at school in proper uniform.

Last week instructions relating to the arrangements for the written GCSE exams and to rules and regulations relating to conduct and behaviour were given in Assembly. We wish all Year 11 students success in the exams they are taking. If any problems arise during the exam period such as illness or transport difficulties, please telephone the school at the earliest opportunity.

HAYMARKET STALL
CNS Association organised a stall at the Haymarket on Saturday and £130 was raised towards school funds. Thanks to parents involved, although only limited donations were offered. Please do support our School Association. All funds raised contribute directly to the life and work of the school.

ART EXHIBITION
Year 11 students have completed their art work for examination and are currently arranging their work on display boards in the Hall. On the evening of Thursday 17th May, parents and other visitors will have the opportunity of coming in to see the exhibition.

SIXTH FORM BALL
A very successful Ball took place at Dunston Hall on Friday evening. Thanks and congratulations to the members of the Sixth Form Committee for organising an event that attracted over 250 guests.
BRANKSOME ROAD GATE
Following discussion with students and parents, it is proposed to re-open the Branksome Road gate at useful times during the school day. Please let Mrs Seddon have any comments on this idea.

LIVING WITH TEENAGERS
Monday at 7.30 in the Sixth Form Common Room.

GOVERNORS' REPORT
The Governors' Annual Report to Parents will shortly be issued to all students to take home to parents. With the report is the agenda for the annual meeting which will take place on Thursday 24 May.

BETTER WEATHER
It is good to see so many students making use of our grounds at break and lunchtime. We are fortunate in having such facilities and in having them so well maintained by our groundsman.

Please do all you can to maintain our environment by depositing your cans and wrappers in the bins provided. Summer uniform requirements will begin after the half-term break. Further details will be published shortly. However, normal arrangements obtain until then.

SAFER ROUTES TO SCHOOL
A group of parents, teachers, councillors, police officers and campaigners met with Transport officials to discuss possibilities for creating a safer environment around school. A survey to discover the routes people use to travel to CNS is likely in the near future.

HMI VISITS
Mrs Mary Horn will be with us on Wednesday to assess our suitability to become a specialist school. Thanks in advance to all staff and students who are preparing to welcome her.
