EXAMINATIONS
Written school examinations for Years 8, 9 and 10 commence on Monday, as published in the last edition of The Echo. These take place alongside A and AS levels and GCSEs which are taking place in the Sports Hall, Gym and, on occasions, in adjacent classrooms. Arrangements are complicated and require students in all year groups to be aware of their exam timetable and of room changes.

SCHOOL FETE
Details of the Fete on Saturday 23 June are printed on the back of this copy of the Echo. Please publicise the Fete by displaying the poster wherever you can.
The CNS Association Committee is still eager to hear from anyone who can help with the setting up of the Fete or the running of a stall and is still open to suggestions and ideas as to what might be included. Please contact Polly Poliakoff on 506242.
The theme of the fete is 'Fun on Wheels' and various activities including driving and a skate park are already planned. Although events will all be supervised, those taking part in the skate park activity do so at their own risk.

ART EXHIBITIONS
The exhibition of Year 11 students' work which was on display in the Hall has been taken down to allow Year 13 A level students to show their work. Parents were invited to see this fascinating and impressive exhibition on Thursday this week.

TESCO VOUCHERS
Please …. this is the last call for 'Computers For Schools' vouchers. Any remaining vouchers can be placed in the box in the Hall.
SUMMER CONCERT
This wasn't billed as Mr Banfield's farewell concert but the amazingly varied programme, from jazz through salsa to the raw power of Pulse, paid tribute to his huge influence on CNS music in the last seven years. We were also treated to farewell performances by talented Year 13 leavers of Bach, Vivaldi, Bizet and Poulenc, displaying style and sensitivity. 'Mr Banfield, we love you - you're a great teacher, a great musician and a great friend' summed up everyone's feelings, or as the Salsa Band's card put it, 'Ta ta, Chuck!' Report by Paul Binney

NEW INTAKE EVENING
On Thursday 21 June we will be welcoming Year 7 students who are joining us in September. They will be here with their parents to begin their induction as the next generation of students at CNS. Meanwhile, CNS teachers have already begun the series of outreach meetings at our partner Middle Schools.

TRAINING DAY
School will be closed for students on Thursday 28 June. The day is set aside for staff development. Normal school will resume on Friday 29 June.

FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE
With the national problems still not fully under control, restrictions in many parts of the country remain in force. As we approach Activities Week (9 to 13 July) some trip leaders are having to keep a watching brief on developments. They will keep students and parents informed of any changes to plan as far as possible but everyone will understand the difficulties posed by the current uncertainties.
