SCHOOL FETE
Raffle tickets for the Fete on Saturday 23 June are selling well. So far, the record for selling the most stands at 11 books. Can you exceed this? £25 to the person who sells the most. The theme of the fete is 'Fun on Wheels' and various activities are planned. Although events will be supervised, those taking part in the skate park activity do so at their own risk.

LIBRARY NEWS
Please return all items to the library by Friday 29 June for the annual stock check. Thanks to all who spent their World Book Day vouchers at Jarrolds. This enabled us to choose new books that are now available in the library.

TRUTH ABOUT THE EXPEDITION
'On 19 May we embarked on the DofE Expedition at Caistor. Only two hours into the walk the moans and groans began. Our feet sank into the sand. With the added weight on our backs, the sun bearing down on us, we thought the walk would never end…The 'slavedriver' (Ben) made sure our breaks were minimal but despite all this we managed to trek on…… Little did we know that this would be a challenging experience, to say the least….After a swift talk from Dr Knott we were let loose on the cooking trangas. It was certainly a different method of cooking …

Eventually some of us managed to get some beauty sleep but there was certainly more than one complaint in the morning ….. We had never been so exhausted as when we finished ….. we lived off breakfast bars and crisps …. Everyone agreed how well the group worked as a whole …It was challenging but worth the sense of pride and sense of completion at the end.' By Lily Rumsey, Nicola Guffogg and friends.
PULSE
The Y13 Band 'Pulse' have gained a spot in the first ever National Rock and Pop Festival at the NEC, Birmingham on Friday 13 July. Well done to Andrew Fitzgerald (keys/vocals), Adam Wretham (guitar), Jon Reddingham (bass) and Sam Wigg (drums). Remember, you heard them first at CNS!

EXAMS CONTINUE
All students are currently involved in exams - whether school exams or GCSE, AS or A levels. The new arrangements for AS exams have attracted a good deal of media coverage and we are continuing to offer Y12 students whatever support we can in preparing for their papers. On Monday 18 June, the Year 10 school exam will finish at 3pm. On that occasion, Y10 students will be free to leave school early, immediately after the end of the exam.

CALENDAR
The calendar for the new school year is currently being assembled. Families may wish to note that because of the Queen's Jubilee, the Summer half-term holiday has been put back across the County by one week and will take place between 3 and 7 June, 2002.

TUTORIAL ARRANGEMENTS
Letters will be sent home next week to parents of students currently in Years 8, 9 and 10 regarding tutorial arrangements for the new school year. From September, students in a particular Year group will be led by a Year Tutor who, with Form Tutors, will work with students throughout their time in the school. In addition, Key Stage Co-ordinators will bring together the different skills and activities that are planned in lessons. They will be the senior members of staff responsible for each Key Stage.
