SAFETY ALERT
An unpleasant incident occurred on Wednesday morning as one of our students was en route to school in the Judges Walk/Buckingham Road area. Students should be sure to walk with others on their way to and from school. Suspicious behaviour or unwanted attention from strangers should be reported to school or to the Police.

SPORTS DAY
Sports Day took place on Thursday. The sun shone brightly and there was even in a welcome cool breeze. All of our outdoor facilities - tennis, netball, cricket, football, long jump, track, javelin - were put to excellent use. Committed team work and great enthusiasm from Year 8 and 9 students and their tutors made for an excellent day. There was some stiff competition but also a good deal of mutual support for fellow team members. Awards will be made in final assemblies. Thank you to the PE Staff for their careful organisation and to our groundsman, Mr Clarke, for his tireless work in keeping our facilities up to scratch.

ACTIVITIES WEEK
The normal school timetable will be abandoned next week, beginning Monday 9 July, to accommodate the varied and exciting activities which will be available to students. There are residential activities, mix and match weeks and school-based activities for those who have chosen to stay at home. The school believes that there is real educational value in Activities Week. Students must remember that it is part of their learning programme and that full participation is expected from all students in whatever their teachers require. Activity leaders will keep a strict register of attendance which will be followed up if students are absent and will expect students to obey all instructions where Health and Safety risks may be involved. We hope that all students have a challenging and enjoyable week.
BELARUS VISITORS
We are delighted to welcome back to CNS next week two visitors from Belarus who came to Norwich for the first time last year. This year they have been invited back by particular families and will be joining our Activities Week and some lessons in the following week.

D of E AT HOLT HALL
After an arduous walk last Saturday from Aldborough, the four Bronze Award groups all reached Holt Hall safely and before dusk! Camping and cooking in the grounds of the Hall was a real pleasure. Sunday started early and each group set off for Salthouse on the coast. All groups walked over 15 miles during the weekend and, as a result of assessment, are well on the way to completing their Award. Thank you to Dr Knott, Mrs Maddocks, Mr Chisolm, Miss Baillie and Mr Boyd as well as to Miss McBain, a former teacher at CNS, who was our assessor.

END OF TERM
The school year ends at 2.20 pm on Friday 20th July, the week after next. Please note that the last week of term will be Week 2 : normal lessons will continue until period 4 on the Friday, followed by the lunch break, a form period and a final assembly in the Sports Hall.

TRAFFIC!
Another opportunity to voice concerns about safety in the area surrounding CNS is available. Many households will have received a leaflet about local travel and transport. We urge you to complete the questionnaire and return it to the County Council. The Eaton Community Group meets at 7.30 on Thursday 12 July in our Sixth Form Common Room where issues will be clarified and at which Council Officers will be available for questions.
