Following his victory in the U16 Schools National Golf Championship David Wilson, also in Y11, represented England in the international against Wales this Summer. David has now been selected for the English National Golf Training Scheme. And Max John of Y9, already a promising pianist, has been awarded a Diocesan Organ Scholarship in order to develop his musical talents further.

CANTERBURY TALES
Students in Y8 and Y9 who would like to be involved in the Christmas production are invited to a meeting at 12.30 on Tuesday 11 September in the Drama Studio. Audition workshops will follow after school on Wednesday/Thursday. All welcome - come and join the fun.
EXAMINATIONS
Congratulations to all CNS students who took public exams this Summer. All students in Year 11 gained some form of certification and over 96% achieved at least 5 GCSEs. 58% achieved at least 5 GCSEs at C grade or better. This was a great achievement and the result of very hard work by students and support by their teachers. A level results remained very strong with students gaining an average of better than 3 C grades. Some sparkling results from our most able students secured well-deserved places on highly competitive University courses and 33 students achieved the status of 'Norfolk County Scholar' (with grades at AA or ABB).

BUDDIES
In Assemblies last term the new 'Buddies' scheme was introduced to current Key Stage 4 students. As a result, several in Y11 are buddies to students in Y8 and will be helping the new students to settle quickly into the routines of CNS. If you are in Y10 or Y11 and would like to join the Buddy Scheme, please see Ms Bushell within the next few days.

CNS : SPECIALIST SCHOOL
CNS is enhanced from this September by the award of Technology College status. The scheme, which provides additional funding, is at the forefront of our work in raising standards of achievement. This has no effect on our admissions policy but gives opportunity for further development of our curriculum, particularly in Maths, Science, ICT and Design Technology. Some Science laboratories and Technology facilities have already been improved over the holidays and new courses are being planned.

This is an exciting time for CNS with new opportunities for students and the wider community.
