PARENT GOVERNOR ELECTION
Unfortunately, there has been an administrative error in the conduct of the ballot and although we attempted to resolve the problem, on further advice we have taken the decision to suspend proceedings in order that there is no doubt about the validity of the final result. We apologise for this inconvenience. New ballot papers (two for each family) will be issued via the youngest child on Wednesday 31 October 2001 for return by 9am on Friday 9 November 2001. Existing nominations are unaffected by this delay to the ballot. All ballot papers received to date will be destroyed and it is important that parents complete and return new ballot papers, when they are issued on 31 October.

EUROPEAN CURRENCY
As from February 2002 all EU countries will be changing to the Euro. We will have a collection point in the Hall to gather any of your old European coins or banknotes. These we will be able to convert for school funds.

PRINTING PRESS
An etching press and a litho press, purchased with money from the School Fete, have arrived in school. This will be of great benefit to the art curriculum.

WHITE PAPER
Copies of the response form to the Government's White Paper 'Schools Achieving Success' are available in the school office.

FAIRWAYS CLUB
'Volunteer' Playworkers are needed 3pm - 6pm weekdays, flexible hours in holidays. You will have choice of working days and daily expenses paid. For further details email d.whalen@uea.ac.uk, or see Robert Whalen 11Sp or telephone 452780 (answerphone).
CHAMBER CONCERT
The Sixth Form Chamber Concert will take place next Tuesday evening at 7.30pm in the Drama Area. We look forward to some interesting performances. All are welcome to attend.

HALF TERM HOLIDAY
The half term break begins for students after school on Thursday 18 October. Friday 19 October is a Staff Development Day.

INTO THE SIXTH FORM
Year 11 students and their parents are warmly invited to attend a presentation evening at 7.30pm on Thursday 18 October at which options and courses at the CNS/Hethersett Sixth Form will be explained. The evening commences in the Hall. This event is for CNS students only; a further event is planned on 7 November for all others.

CAR PARKING
A good deal of congestion occurs before and after school each day. Please would parents help to alleviate this by parking further along Eaton Road and well away from the school gates? Thank you.

GAMES WORKSHOP
Year 11 students will be running a games workshop in Room 7 on Thursday afternoons 2.45 - 5 pm. For more information see Kieran Meenaghan or John Jarvis both in 11Dn.

LEISURE & TOURISM
Some Y10 students have recently embarked upon a GNVQ course in Leisure & Tourism. Parents came in to school on Wednesday evening to hear more about what is involved. Students will be undertaking research and field work in this growing area of industry and employment. Assessment is by portfolio and unit tests.
