PARKING ON EATON ROAD
Parents who drop their children off at school are asked to do so away from the school gate. There is much congestion outside the school and our concern for the safety of our students is paramount. Could we also remind you that parking on Eaton Road is limited to 30 minutes?

YOUTH LITTER CAMPAIGN
The Celebrity Youth Litter Campaign is to encourage young people to care for the environment. Students can obtain their own free posters, as displayed in school, from any Warner Village Cinema from mid-October where they are able to enter a competition to design their own anti-litter slogan. First prize is a one to one chat with Atomic Kitten!

CHAMBER CONCERT
A varied and stimulating programme from Sixth Form musicians, mainly from those studying at AS and A2 level, took place on Tuesday evening. Some difficult and unusual performances kept an appreciative audience spell-bound. Mark Winteringham's piano and guitar recitals, Stanford's 'Intermezzo' played on the clarinet by Hannah Smith and Charlotte Petch's rendering of 'The Sky above the Roof' were amongst the highlights. Other performances were given by James Walker, Nick Earl, Mike Crompton, Laura Brown, Sam Clements, Phil Anderson and Tom Sparrow, Rachel Mason, Georgina Whitehead, Sebina O'Brien, Sussanna Brown and Laura Beaumont. Thank you to all involved and to Mr Dickson and Dr Ranyard for musical direction.

HALF TERM
School closes at 2.45pm on Thursday 18 October and re-opens on Monday 29 October at 8.30am. The school office will be open next week on Monday and Tuesday, only.
POP IDOLS
Laura Beaumont in Year 13 came close to stardom as part of the nationwide talent contest. She performed in auditions in Manchester and in London and appeared on television. She reached the final 100 out of 10,000 applicants with her performances of 'It's Oh So Quiet' by Bjork and 'Waiting for Tonight' by Jennifer Lopez. Congratulations, Laura! We look forward to news of your next performance.

INTO THE SIXTH FORM
Tonight we will welcome parents and students in Year 11 to hear about opportunities in our Sixth Form. Following a short presentation by Mr Boyd, Edward Knapp and Jen Brook, parents and students will be able to visit classrooms and talk to teachers about the various courses on offer. Further details can be obtained from Mr Pierce, Director of Sixth Form, and a newly updated prospectus - that contains full details of courses and entry requirements - will be distributed to all students shortly after half term. A further evening, for students from other schools and their parents, will take place on Wednesday 7 November.

WORK EXPERIENCE
Parents of students in Year 10 are invited into school on Tuesday evening 30 October at 7.30 to hear about opportunities for Work Experience next Summer. All students will be involved in work experience of some kind during the first two weeks in July and the most successful placements tend to be those that are carefully planned in advance. The evening is for parents; students will receive similar information during school time.
