THE CANTERBURY TALES
Martin Riley's adaptation of 'The Canterbury Tales' was performed with huge enthusiasm and to great acclaim last week. Six tales were linked together in an entertaining way by the Alchemists (Lucy Brims, Phoebe Thompson, Florence Shippey and Hannah Young) whose best efforts failed to amuse the taciturn Geoffrey Chaucer (Katie Salmon). The audience, on the other hand, lapped up all of the jokes and the choreography and the 'business' that the cast had worked so effectively to achieve.

Many splendid performances bode well for future CNS productions. Notable amongst these were : Lizzie Small and Max John (Queen Guinevere and King Arthur), Katarina McKinlay (Wife of Bath), Sarah Spooner (Nun's Priest), Anna Younger (Alison), Charlie Williams (Sir Codsbrain) and those amorous chickens Chauntecleer and Pertelote (Tom Partridge and Verity Wall). Our warm thanks to the whole cast and crew for a great show and to Mrs Wickham for her highly imaginative direction.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT
This takes place in the School Hall on Thursday 13 December at 7.30. We have an interesting and varied seasonal programme that is bound to be popular. Programmes £3, are available in advance from the Music Department or the main office.

YR11 MOCK EXAMS
Year 11 students will have Mock Exams between 21 January and 1 February. Study Leave will operate during the fortnight. The timetable (that includes Art Practicals) will be distributed to tutor groups on Monday 10 December allowing plenty of time for students to plan their revision. Questions about arrangements should be passed to Ms Bushell or Mrs Collard, please.
BOOK VOUCHERS
Waterstones are offering £75 worth of book vouchers when you spend £20 at their store. Great for your Christmas shopping! Pick up your vouchers in store.

CHARITIES WEEK
in support of the SOS Bus, got off to an excellent start with well over £1000 raised by the end of Monday. Older students (Y10 to Y13) attended a special lecture on Monday morning regarding safety in the City. And on Wednesday, Year 12 students attended a performance of 'Too Much Punch For Judy' - a play about the perils of drinking and driving. Both events contributed to our role as a 'Healthy Norfolk School' and to our attempts to provide 'Safer Journeys to School'. Thanks to Ms Bushell and Mr Pierce respectively for organising the events.

BACKPACK COMPETITION
Students will be able to enter a competition next week to win one of three splendid Berghaus backpacks, generously donated by a parent. The competition will be held in the hall where students will identify the country in which a picture has been taken. Tickets for entry will be 50p each. Proceeds will be divided between the school and Guide Dogs for the Blind.

YEAR 11 PROGRESS REPORTS - in which minimum target grades are compared with present performance grades - will be issued shortly.
