HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Best wishes for a happy, fulfilling and successful 2002 to all CNS students and parents. There are only ten school weeks until the Easter holiday and yet a great deal of work needs to be completed by students in all year groups during this short period. Good luck in your studies and - for students in Years 11, 12 and 13 - in your preparations for public examinations.

YEAR 11 PROGRESS
Shortly before the end of term, Year 11 students received an indication of their 'Present Performance' in each subject. This is useful information in the run-up to the Y11 mock exams that take place in the fortnight commencing on Monday 21 January. On Wednesday evening this week a large group of Y11 students and their parents attended a presentation on 'Preparing for Exams' at which ideas and advice were given. Copies of the handout are available from Mrs Collard. Further advice will be given by subject teachers and tutors and a full Revision Booklet will be issued at the end of February.

ACADEMIC REVIEW DAY
All students will have a short interview with their tutor on Friday 1 March 2002. Parents are invited to attend this and further details will be available soon. There will be no lessons that day and students are only expected to come to school (in uniform) for their interview. Otherwise, students will not be in school. For Year 13 students, the interview will be with students only.

CNSA TABLE TOP & JUMBLE SALE
A reminder to book your table and look out your jumble for Saturday 19 January. To book a table or to offer your support, please phone Sarah Scott on 505720. Please come along! All proceeds support our school.
CHARITIES WEEK MONEY BOXES
The money boxes placed in local shops raised £420.15. We would like to thank: Tuckswood McDonalds, Post Office, Newsagents, Homebase, Q8 Garage, HSBC, The Fat Cat, Debenhams, Waitrose, Early Learning Centre, Dunston Hall, BHS, Cyrus, Mark 1, Tie Rack, Ster Century, Broadland Council, Chapelfield Road Methodist Church, Mr Green, Mr Southon and the CNS Sixth Form. Thanks the Red Cross for lending us the charity boxes and to PC Colin Long for his assistance. A big well done to Natalie Humphries and Jade Cooper for organising this activity.

CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS
If anyone has any unwanted lights or Christmas decorations the school would be very grateful to receive them in preparation for next year. Any article can be left in the main school office.

YEAR 8 EVENING
Next Thursday, 17 January, parents of Y8 students are invited to meet subject teachers between 5.30pm and 8pm. A letter has already been sent home about this and students should now be making appointments for their parents with their subject teachers. Meetings take place in and around the Hall and information about where to go is provided. Mrs Thea Abbot, a Development Worker for Norfolk's Childcare Partnership, will be available during the evening. We hope to raise sufficient interest in After School Clubs in order that funding can be secured to provide extra activity and supervision.

STUDY SUPPORT CENTRE
On Monday, literature regarding additional support in Mathematics and English from this commercial organisation will be distributed. Replies need to be received by Thursday 17 January.
