YEAR 11 GCSE
EXAMINATIONS
Today is the last day of lessons for Year 11 : study leave
begins after the weekend. Today is not a leaving date for Year 11 because all
students have examination commitments and most are returning to the Sixth Form.
GCSE Drama examinations take place this week and next week French and German
GCSE oral examinations will be undertaken. Students have been given appointment
times for all of these. Final written papers begin on Tuesday 21 May and all
students should have individual examination timetables. Last week instructions
relating to the arrangements for the written papers and to rules and
regulations relating to conduct and behaviour were given in Assembly. We wish
all Year 11 students success in the exams they are taking. If any problems
arise during the exam period such as illness or transport difficulties, please
telephone the school at the earliest opportunity.
YEAR 9 SATs
Well done to Year 9 students on successfully completing
most of the Standard Assessment Tests this week. The standard of behaviour has
been excellent and students have faced the challenge with calmness and
determination!
YEAR 10 TECHNOLOGY EVENING
Almost 100 parents attended a workshop last Thursday
evening to hear about the intriguing possibilities that are involved in GCSE
Technology coursework. Technology teachers were on hand to explain how success
can be achieved and a varied display of completed work helped to make this
clear.
MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCES
Students who are resident in the parish of Wymondham and
who will be in the Sixth Form next school year are eligible to apply for
financial support to the 'Wymondham (Old) Grammar School Foundation'. Anyone
who may be interested should contact Mrs Shrimpling, the Headteacher's PA, as
soon as possible. Completed forms need to be returned by 7 June 2002. |
CNS UNIFORM
After much discussion and consultation, the School Council
made its proposal about school uniform to CNS Governors last term. Their
proposal was accepted. From September 2002, the improved CNS uniform for
students in Years 8 to 11 - that comprises the following items - will be
introduced.
1. Navy blue fleece with school badge* 2. Navy blue
polo shirt with school logo* 3. Dark sensible shoes (Not trainers) 4.
Grey or black trousers (or, for girls, the option of grey or black skirt)
Any garments worn under the polo shirt must not be visible. Other
garments that are brought to school (eg outer coat, trainers, headgear) should
be stored in a locker. There are no changes to the PE kit. Items marked * in
the list above are available only from John Lewis plc. Supplies are expected in
their city store in early June. Additionally, sales of these items will be
taking place at CNS on 22 June (1pm to 4pm, during the Fete) and on 26 June
(5.30pm to 8pm).
During the school year 2002/3, the previous school
uniform may be worn. If this option is taken, the previous uniform needs to be
worn correctly and completely. It is not permissible to mix items from the
previous uniform with items 1 and 2 listed above. Grey or black trousers,
however, will be acceptable.
GEOGRAPHY FARM VISITS
These take place throughout next week. The visits will
enable students to look at agriculture as an example of economic activity.
Wellies are desirable!
CNSA 'WEEKENDERS'
On Wednesday 29 May at 7.30pm in the Sixth Form Common Room
there will be a 'Weekenders' Fashion Show.
