TECHNOLOGY FESTIVAL
Between 19 June and 25 June CNS holds its first Technology Festival. A series of events is planned including exhibitions, contests and talks. Johnny Ball will be presenting some of his ideas to some CNS students and to those in Middle Schools. Inspire - the hand-on Science Centre - and some of our industrial sponsors will be exhibiting in the Hall. More details of events will be available next week.

SKATEPARK AT THIS YEAR'S FETE
Weather permitting, there will be a skatepark at the Summer Fete on Saturday 22 June. Check out your ramps now and get them repaired or even build new so you can bring them along for a great afternoon's skating! If you need help to get your ramp to school on the day phone Michelle on 507676. Ramps must be in good condition and will be checked beforehand.

DANISH EXCHANGE DEPARTS
Sixteen Year 9 students left Norwich on Wednesday accompanied by Miss Wind and Mr Burns bound for Aarhus, Denmark. Students will be staying with Danish partners over the weekend to sample Scandinavian life and culture. The party returns on Tuesday.

YEAR 12 AND 13 STUDY LEAVE
The last lessons for Year 12 and 13 students take place today. AS and A level examinations have already commenced and we wish all candidates the best of luck in the coming weeks. Examination timetables have already been issued and information about precise times and rooms is displayed on the Exam Noticeboard under the covered way.

HALF TERM HOLIDAY
School will be closed for the half term holiday from Monday 3 June until Friday 7 June. Lessons for students in Years 8, 9 and 10 re-commence as normal at 8.30am on Monday morning. Arrangements for Summer uniform will be published next week. Normal conventions pertain until then - unless special arrangements are made for a particular day.
YEAR TEN EXAMS
Students in Year 10 will be taking important examinations after half term. In two subjects - Mathematics on 20 June and Science on 14 June - these are actual GCSE examinations. Immediately after half term - between Monday 10 and Thursday 13 June inclusive - students will be taking internal exams in their other subjects. At this half-way point in GCSE courses, all of these examinations provide a useful means for students to judge their present performance and to compare this with their target grades. Further details will be provided next week in order that Year 10 students can properly prepare themselves over half-term.

PARENTS' MEETING
An open meeting of parents with Governors took place on Thursday evening. A range of topics were discussed including progress with our Technology College plans and the Government's recent green paper on education for 14-19 year olds.

KEY SKILLS
It is rewarding to know that following a recent visit to CNS of a moderator from OCR (one of the main examination 'Awarding Bodies') portfolios of candidates aiming for ICT Key Skills have been successfully verified. Congratulations to the Year 13 students involved and many thanks to teachers for their pioneering work in this area.

WELL DONE, LUKE!
A letter from RAF Cranwell informs us that Luke Jules, Year 13, has been recommended to the Ministry of Defence for the award of a bursary, as a pilot, in the General Duties Branch.

NEW UNIFORM
Further details of the improved school uniform - that will be introduced at CNS in September 2002 - will be presented by Mr Baker in Assembly next week. John Lewis plc - stockists of the new CNS fleece and polo shirt - receive supplies on 10 June. Items will also be available for sale at school on 22 and 26 June.
