TECHNOLOGY FESTIVAL UNDERWAY
Displays in the Hall presented by a range of our partner companies - featuring robots, language learning and our own EJ dancing - have already attracted much attention. Major events follow from Friday when Ken Farqhar mounts his juggling breakfast and Castle Museum exhibit a series of hands-on items. The Techno-Fete and material from Inspire, the Hands On Science Centre, follow on Saturday.

BIKE2SCHOOL
Well done to all students who participated in this successful event on Wednesday. Members of the Norfolk Cycling Campaign, City Council officers and local traffic police joined CNS students to ensure that the approaches to the school were safe thus encouraging more students to cycle. With more secure cycle sheds and the greater awareness of motorists, we are glad to know that increasing numbers of our students are cycling on a regular basis. Further improvements to the approaches to CNS - achieved as a result of joint campaigning by students, staff, residents and parents - will be completed during the Summer holidays. All of these developments form part of our work on Safer and Healthier Journeys to School.

SCHOOL SUMMER FETE
This year's Fete takes place on Saturday 22 June from 1pm to 4pm on the school grounds. The Fete - which takes its Techno theme from the current Technology Festival - will take place come rain or shine. Please come along whatever the weather to support the event and to support CNS. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible. If you are driving to the event, please park on Eaton Road or elsewhere in the vicinity. It will not be possible to park inside the school grounds because of the various activities that will be taking place.

MR WRIGHT OF AVENUES
Ex-Avenues Middle students may already know that Mr Wright is to leave the school in July. Some of his students are putting together anecdotes and messages about him
and would be pleased to receive contributions from CNS students. If you have a message, you can send it to Jo Wright, 15, Hall Farm, Market Deeping P6 8DE.

SHAKESPEARE'S GLOBE THEATRE
Our first visit to The Globe on 18 June was a marvellous experience, the small, circular, tiered shape seeming far more intimate than the modern theatre. 9W1 know Twelfth Night well, but were taken completely by surprise by its interpretation by an all-male cast. There was little romance; it was laughter from start to finish. Orsino, surprisingly, strutted aggressively, as did Malvolio! Olivia, played by Mark Rylance was a self-absorbed neurotic, with a tendency to swoon. The pace was fast, and there were real minstrels in the gallery, from which pigeons flew down onto the stage from time to time.

YEAR 10 ACADEMIC REVIEW DAY
Please note that this event, as in the calendar, will no longer take place. It has been superseded by the annual Review Day that takes place each Spring.

NEW STUDENTS
We welcomed to school on Thursday evening parents of new Year 8 students. Following a presentation by Mrs Smith, Mr Boyd, Dr Poliakoff and some students, parents were able to view various displays - the new uniform, the planned Year 8 Camp at Bramley Lakes, Technology equipment. We look forward to students joining us for Induction Day on 3 July.

CNS UNIFORM FROM SEPTEMBER
Details of the new uniform, as recommended by the School Council, have already been published in The Echo. The new fleece and polo shirt will be on sale in the Hall during the Fete on Saturday afternoon, next Wednesday from 5.30 onwards and at any time from John Lewis. As already explained, from September students must either wear the new uniform or the existing uniform (with tie and shirt correctly worn). Trainers will only be permitted for PE lessons.
