WELCOME TO YEAR 7
On Wednesday 3 July, thanks to our Middle School partners, we were able to welcome to CNS all of those students currently in Year 7 and due to join Year 8 at CNS in September. A busy and highly structured day gave students a taste of what lessons and assemblies at CNS will be like. The day gave us the opportunity to set our expectations clearly from the very start. Students rose to the occasion and were a credit to their present schools and teachers. The Year 9 students who acted as 'buddies' to the incoming Year 8 provided excellent role models and were a credit to CNS.

SUCCESS FOR ALL AT CNS
New routine arrangements that ensure success for all of our students are being introduced in September. A letter will be sent home before the end of term containing further details. With the introduction of the new uniform from September there will be no need for students to arrive at school looking scruffy. Supplies of the new uniform are available at John Lewis plc. Those who choose to wear the existing uniform next year need to dress correctly with shirts tucked in and ties done up. Outdoor coats and hats should be stored in lockers and trainers are only required for indoor PE lessons.

LOST PROPERTY
All clothing and footwear should be clearly marked with the student's name. If you think you may have lost an item of clothing or equipment at school, please see Mr Burns.

KS3 SPORTS DAY
Participation was the theme for Thursday's sports day. Some stiff competition coupled with good humoured rivalry ensured that the day was a success. All Y8 and Y9 Forms entered teams. In Year 8, 8Ca were narrowly beaten into second place by the victorious 8Dr. Outstanding performance certificates were awarded to Corrina Gillies and William Stewart. Thanks to the PE team and many other staff for managing the day so well.
KS3 CHAMBER CONCERT
A varied and entertaining programme was performed on Thursday evening including some difficult pieces which were played with some skill. A review will appear in the next Echo.

ACTIVITIES WEEK
Next week is Activities Week. Normal lessons and registrations do not take place. Students need to follow the detailed instructions given to them by Activity Leaders. Some residential trips depart this weekend and others on Monday morning. Good luck to all Activities. The success of the week will depend upon good relations between all involved and therefore the highest standards of courtesy and thoughtfulness are required throughout. We hope that the experiences next week are valuable and enjoyable.

YEAR 8 AND YEAR 10 SCHOOL REPORTS
Reports have been prepared and will be ready for students to read through on Monday 15 July with their Tutors. They will be sent home via students on Friday 19 July.

GOOD DEEDS
Three female CNS students were commended as being 'extraordinarily good' as a result of their assistance at the scene of an accident at the Leopold Road junction after school on Friday. The person involved would like to thank the girls personally. If it was you, please see Mr Boyd!

END OF TERM
In the last week of term, Years 8, 9 and 10 will have Awards Assemblies to celebrate achievement throughout the term. There will also be a final Assembly at 2pm on Friday 19 July. Term will end for the Summer Term at 2.30pm on Friday 19 July. The new term commences for students on 3 September 2002.
