MATHS CLUB
Maths Club started on the 18 September and will run on
Wednesdays in room 18 from 3pm. We will not be looking at text books! Try this.
A man walks 10 miles South, 10 miles East and 10 miles North. He ends up
exactly where he started! How come? (No mistakes in the question and there's
more than one answer). We will do a variety of things at Maths Club: it's up to
the members.
CNSA PET SHOW
The annual Pet Show takes place on Friday evening between
6pm and 8.30pm in the Hall. Pets, owners and supporters are all welcome: entry
fee is £1 a pet (plus a small charge for spectators) and is payable on
the door. Pre-booking is not required. Side shows include an impressive reptile
collection and a dog obedience show. BBQ and refreshments will be available
throughout. The Pet Show is a particularly good event for new Year 8 students
and their parents to come to a CNSA event for the first time.
YEAR 8
TUTOR EVENING
Letters have been sent home by Ms Bushell to invite parents
to meet with Tutors next Thursday 26 September 2002.
GUIDANCE AND
TECHNOLOGY DAY
In order to include a broad range of learning experiences
in our curriculum we include some days during the school year when the normal
timetable does not operate. Activities Week in July and the Progress Review Day
on 14 January are examples of this. This year we have added a day that will be
devoted to guidance or technology-related activities. This will take place on
Thursday 10 October and further details will be available shortly. All students
will be involved throughout the day.
YEAR 8 CAMP
Another new venture this year is the Year 8 Camp. We hope
that this short residential experience at Bramley lakes - in which most of our
new students will be participating - |
will successfully
conclude the induction programme for Year 8. It will enable students to develop
their skills of working with others and problem solving. Pairs of forms will be
at Bramley Lakes with their Tutors and other staff for half a week each
commencing on 30 September. Mr Baker is organising the event and queries should
be addressed to him.
'P' STANDS FOR PLANNER
Each Wednesday morning Tutors check and sign students'
Planners. Please would parents do likewise each week, perhaps at the weekend?
This regular monitoring ensures that support is provided for students quickly
and when they most need it. Thanks.
LYNX THEATRE VISIT
On Friday, a Theatre-in-Education company are visiting CNS
to perform to all Year 8 students and GCSE and A level Drama students. Review
next week.
YEAR 11 AWARDS EVENT
This takes place on Thursday 3 October at 7.30pm in the
School Hall. Award winners from last year's Year 11 will be invited shortly.
CNSA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
This will take place at 7.30pm on Wednesday 2 October in
the Sixth Form Common Room. The evening will include a presentation of the
school's work as a centre of community education. Do come along to hear about
the activities and plans of YOUR School Association.
MATCH
ROUND-UP
Football teams competing this week have included: Year 8
beating Thorpe 5:0,Year 9 winning 3:1 against Hethersett and Year12/13 winning
3:1 against Gt Yarmouth.
OUTDOOR COATS AND HATS
For the avoidance of doubt, outdoor clothing (coats,
gloves, scarves, hats) needs to be stored in lockers or bags between 8.35am and
the end of school. Such garments should not be in evidence between these times.
