CHARITIES WEEK HELP FOR HOMELESS
A plaque has been unveiled at Bishopbridge House, Norwich, in recognition of fund-raising by CNS during their Charities Week in 2000, when £6038 was raised for St Martin's Housing Trust city homeless shelter.

WELL DONE, GEORGINA
Congratulations to Georgina Whitehead VIWb, for her success on violin in the St Andrew's Festival. Georgina, who is violin leader in the CNS orchestra, has a recital on 4 November in the Chapter House as her prize for being Recital Award Winner.

DANISH EXCHANGE
Nineteen students arrived from Aarhus in Denmark this week. They will be hosted by students in Year 9, and lots of activities have been organised to enhance this cultural link.

GCSE CATERING GROUP
Introducing the new GCSE Catering Group at CNS. The students will be donning their whites and cooking up several treats! The aprons have been embroidered using the new CAD machines in Textiles, our thanks to Ms Dallas and Mrs Tassie. Look out for recipes to be published in the Echo 'Truffe au Chocolat' is a real winner!

GERMAN WORK EXPERIENCE EXCHANGE
Eight German A level students arrived this week for a Work Experience stay in Norwich. They are placed in a variety of jobs ranging from radio, advertising, care work and hotel management. Six of our students will be going to Koblenz for their Work Experience at half term. It is a very worthwhile exchange that gives our students valuable experience
and extends their cultural knowledge and experience of working conditions in the country they study.

TECHNOLOGY & GUIDANCE DAY
Next Thursday, 10 October, normal lessons will not take place. Activities that add to and support other learning have been planned as follows. All activities (except for the Year 9 trip) take place at school commencing at the usual time. Further details will be provided about venues next week. Year 8 (other than those at Camp) will be involved in an applied Science and Technology Day. Year 9 will be visiting the London Museums to support work in Arts, Humanities and Science. Year 10 will be undertaking workshop sessions on study skills with one group participating on work related learning. Year 11 will be attending a Careers Convention, Year 12 will be participating in a One World Conference and Year 13 will be working with their Tutors on their HE applications and key skills. Year 9 students should by now have returned their slips regarding the trip to London.

YEAR 11 AWARDS
It was a delight to be able to present to students in last year's Year 11 awards for outstanding success in GCSE examinations. The year group achieved the best ever results at CNS (69% of students achieved 5 or more higher grades) and 97% of students achieved at least 5 GCSEs altogether. Ms Bushel! and Mrs Collard, Year Tutor and Key Stage Co-ordinator respectively, spoke warmly about the success prior to the presentation of the awards. We wish all in last year's Year 11 - whether still at CNS or not - the very best in the future.
