YEAR 10 PARENTS'
MEETING
Parents of Year 10 students are invited to a short
presentation on Tuesday 29 October at 7.30 in the Hall. The main focus will be
an explanation of the Year 10 Work Experience programme but the evening will
also include an introduction to our guidance arrangements throughout Key Stage
4, including an insight into work carried out in tutorials, with the Progress
File 'Moving On' and on 'Learning Better : Better Learning'.
SPORTING SUCCESS
Congratulations to Jamie Furlong 10Bw, who has been
selected for the Norfolk County Under-15s football squad. This is a great
achievement for Jamie and for CNS. Good luck with the fixtures this year,
Jamie!
LOST PROPERTY We already have a number of items in
lost property in the main office. Students are encouraged to ask at the office
if they have mislaid any of their property and also to ensure that all their
clothing, shoes and other items are clearly labelled with their name. Lost
items can then be easily reunited with their owner!
HALF TERM
HOLIDAY School closes at 2.45 on Friday for half term. We resume at
8.30 on Tuesday 29 October. On Monday 28 October there is a Staff Training Day.
The school office will be open for limited periods only on Monday, Tuesday,
Thursday and Friday next week.
YEAR 11 INTO 12 EVENING
On Thursday evening students currently in Year 11 at CNS
and their parents attended a presentation about our Sixth Form. On Wednesday 6
November at 7.30pm students from other schools are invited to a similar event.
Thank you to existing Sixth Formers for your help in welcoming prospective
newcomers.
GERMAN EXCHANGE Visitors arrive on Tuesday 29
October for the first leg of this year's exchange. |
GOVERNING BODY
At the meeting of Governors on Monday 7 October Dr Lucinda
Poliakoff was elected Chair and Mr Mike Benstead Vice-Chair. Thanks were
expressed to Mr Albert Mills for his highly effective work as Chair over the
past years.
HELP WITH TECHNOLOGY There is a Technology
workshop on Wednesday and Thursday lunchtimes in room 71 to help students with
any Technology coursework difficulties.
TECHNOLOGY AND GUIDANCE
DAY
Last Thursday, all students were involved in activities
that gave focus to guidance or technology. The range of activities was
extensive; the enthusiasm of and on-task behaviour by students was impressive.
Year 13 students spent time with Tutors on completion of UCAS statements
whilst Year 11 were engaged throughout the whole day in a Careers Conference.
Outside organisations contributed to a display and a theatre production by
'Impact' raised some pertinent issues about choices. Year 12 students
participated in our 'One World' Conference which featured issues relating to
international development. Year 10 students either undertook some work
related learning off-site or participated in a Study Skills Conference during
which key skills for GCSE were practised. Most Year 9 students took part in
the trip to London museums where visits to the Science and Natural History
museums complemented work currently underway in Humanities and Art. A small
number of Year 9 students produced a 'School Trail for CNS' designed to
introduce newcomers to the school. And Year 8 students - other than those
at Camp - undertook an Applied Science and Technology Day in which some
practical problems were tackled. Thank you to all staff who worked hard to make
the day a success.
CHAMBER CONCERT
Thank you to Sixth Form musicians whose performances gave
so much pleasure on Tuesday evening in a reflective and varied programme. |
