SUCCESS FOR ALL
All parents should have received a letter about some modifications to 'Success for All'. We are pleased with the introduction of the new systems and hope that these refinements will be beneficial. Coats may be worn outside during break and lunchtime. Otherwise, all non-uniform items should be stored in bags or lockers at all times.

SIGN LANGUAGE SUCCESS
Seven CNS students recently passed their CACDP British Sign Language exams at Stage one; two of the students were deaf and five were hearing. Well done to those students!

WORKWISE COURSE
Our Year 10 students involved in the WorkWise course at Virgin Money before half term have been complimented on their positive response and behaviour. The course took place over three days and gave students insight into the world of work. We are grateful to the business trainers and to Mrs Darling who organised this new venture.

WASTE FACTORY PUBLICITY
The joint Heartease High School-CNS re-cycling project featured in the Guardian Education supplement on 15 October. The group of Year 9 students are designing and building recycling machines using a web interface and webcams to swap ideas and technical know-how.

SCHOOL OFFICE TRAINING
The main school office will be closed for the day on Monday 4 November to allow computer training for office staff.

PERIPATETIC MUSIC LESSONS
Receipts for this term's lesson payments are now available for collection by students from Mr Dickson in the music area.
FAMILY LEARNING EVENT
Saturday 19 October provided a brilliant start for CNS's initiative to involve families in learning together. Six students each brought in one of their parents to spend a morning in one of the ICT suites. Simon Laycock provided an Internet Quiz, which was great fun and very challenging. He also led some creative work using Adobe Photoshop to manipulate the digital photographs of each family which were taken during the coffee break. We promised the students that the results would be kept confidential! Feedback from participants was positive and both Simon Laycock and Thea Abbott enjoyed their morning's work. Look out for other family learning events with different themes in the future.

GERMAN EXCHANGE ARRIVES
We extend a warm welcome to a group of 20 students and two staff from Gymnasium auf dem Asterstein in Koblenz who arrived on Tuesday. The group will be undertaking a varied programme - including visits in Norwich, to London, Cambridge and Suffolk - including spending some time in lessons. Visitors will be with us until next Thursday.

YEAR 10 PARENTS' MEETING
On Tuesday evening, parents of Year 10 students attended a meeting at which information about Work Experience and Studying for GCSEs was conveyed. We hope that the meeting was useful and enables parents to be more informed about important work currently underway. If you missed the meeting but would like copies of the information distributed, please contact Mrs Collard or Mr Sofroniou at school.

OPEN EVENINGS
Next Wednesday, we welcome students currently in Year 11 at other schools to learn about Sixth Form courses on offer at CNS. And on Thursday 14 November and Tuesday 19 November we welcome students currently in Year 7. Thank you to all staff and students who are preparing to meet visitors on these evenings.
