ATTENDANCE
If your son or daughter is away from school for any reason please ring the school on the first day of absence and leave a message on the school absence line (numbers given below). This ensures that our records are as accurate as possible.

LOWER SCHOOL PRODUCTION
Tickets for 'The Mammoth Sails Tonight' - the lower school production on 5th, 6th and 7th December, are on sale at lunchtimes in the school hall 12.45 - 1.10 pm. Price £3 each.

ACTIVITIES WEEK, 2003
Booklets advertising the various activities available to students in Years 8, 9 and 12 at the end of the Summer Term (14 to 18 July) have been distributed. Please ensure that your reply slip is returned by Monday 11 November in order that places can be allocated. Any queries about Activities Week should be directed to Mr Baker.

CNS ASSOCIATION
At the meeting of CNSA Committee on 30 October, Mrs Jane John was elected as the new Chair of the Association. She succeeds Lucinda Poliakoff to whom tribute was paid for her tireless efforts on behalf of CNSA over the past three years. We wish Jane well in this important role. It was good to be able to welcome to the meeting Mr Stuart Johnson, secretary of CNS Union - our former students' association. We hope that this new link between CNSA and CNSU will benefit both organisations and the school.

ANNUAL PARENTS' MEETING
The Governors' Annual Report to parents will be distributed via students today. Further to this, parents are invited to attend die Annual Parents' Meeting on Wednesday 27 November 2002 at 7.30pm at school. An agenda for the meeting is included with the Annual Report. Any queries regarding the meeting or the report should be addressed to the Clerk to the Governors, Mrs Helen Pott, at school.

GERMAN EXCHANGE
It has been good to have our visitors from Koblenz with us over the past week. The exchange between our two schools is now 23 years old and the cultural and social benefits to both schools are significant. We wish the students and their teachers - Frau Pflug and Frau Habner - a safe homeward journey. Thank you to all families who accommodated the visitors and to Mr Kreft for arranging the visit.

SIXTH FORM OPEN EVENINGS
Our second Sixth Form Open Evening on Wednesday night drew large numbers of students currently studying at other schools. A full account of the CNS-Hethersett Partnership was given to our visitors. Following a presentation in the Hall - given by Mrs Allen (Headteacher at Hethersett), Mr Boyd, Sam Scott and Jane Conley - visitors were free to tour the school and to learn about the variety of courses on offer. Given the partnership nature of our Sixth Form and our Technology College status we are able to offer an even wider range of courses in September 2003 that will include Environmental Science, Catering, Leisure & Tourism, Law and Government & Politics. Thank you to all students and staff who offered such a warm welcome. The new Sixth Form Prospectus is available on request to the Sixth Form Office or to Mrs Brockes (Sixth Form Secretary) on Norwich 274060.

SUCCESS FOR ALL AT CNS
Modified arrangements for ensuring basic standards of appearance, organisation and behaviour are now in place. It is good to see so many students receiving Credits for maintaining a completely 'clean sheet' over the past fortnight. Please remember that coats may only be worn whilst outside during break or lunchtime. Otherwise, they should not be visible and should be stowed in bags or lockers.

YEAR 11 RECORDS OF ACHIEVEMENT
These are currently being compiled by teachers and will be available for students later this term. Personal statements need to be complete by 6 December.
