COMPUTERS FOR SCHOOLS
A new Tesco Computers for Schools scheme will start on Monday 27 January and run until 6 April. Customers will receive one voucher for every £10 spent in any Tesco store or petrol filling station during this period. Please collect, and ask your friends to collect vouchers and send them into school. In the past we have been able to provide many useful items for the school through this scheme including scanners and digital cameras.

SPORTING SUCCESSES
Congratulations to Jonathan Elsegood Year 13 who attends a prestigious award ceremony in London at the end of his month to receive his 'cap' for being a member of the England Amputee Football Team. Also to Charity Barnes who recently won two Badminton gold medals in the final National Junior Challenger tournament. As a result of this she was subsequently awarded the Wonder of the Week award run by the Eastern Evening News. We wish Charity the best of luck in the forthcoming U17 National Badminton Championships.

YEAR 10 MENTORING
We are pleased to welcome Ms Joyce to CNS. Ms Joyce will be taking some KS4 Maths classes. She will also be involved in outreach work with Middle Schools. In particular, she will be providing some additional mentoring for Year 10 students in conjunction with Careers Advisers. This mentoring will assist students in planning ahead for possible courses after GCSEs.

CNSA JUMBLE AND INDOOR BOOT SALE
This takes place on Saturday 1 February at school. Jumble may be left at school during next week including on Friday evening 31 January by 6pm.
GOVERNORS MEET
CNS Governing Body meets for the first time this term on Monday evening.

COMMUNITY PROGRAMME
It is exciting to be able to report the wide range of activities now on offer as part of our Technology College Community Programme. ICT classes are being held at Tuckswood First School and at CNS. An 'Active Dads' class will start shortly. For students at school, 14 in Year 8 and 9 are involved in the NCFC Study Support Centre and 'On Your Bike' started this week. A Tai-Chi club and a non-contact boxing club are already planned. For details on these and other Community activities, please contact Mrs Thea Abbott on 01603 274050.

YEAR 11 MOCKS
The first week of mock examinations has proceeded smoothly and there has been a serious approach by Year 11 students. The second week follows. Students return to normal lessons on Monday 3 February and shortly after the half-term break, students will receive Present Performance Grades that reflect their mock examination performance.

YEAR 12 FINANCE DAY
On Wednesday 12 February, Year 12 students will be involved in a study day during which issues of managing personal finance will be considered. Outside speakers will be contributing to the day's programme. Normal Year 12 lessons will not take place that day.

IMPRESSIONS COUNT
'C' stands for 'Courtesy'. Loyalty to CNS includes being aware of the impression that we give to our neighbours and to the general public. Behaviour that creates a poor reputation for our school is unacceptable: it is discourteous and disloyal. The small number of students, whose poor behaviour on the way to or from school causes a poor reputation for the rest of us need to understand that serious consequences often follow.
