SHELTER SLEEP OVER
On Friday night, 24 students in Year 9 spent the night 'sleeping rough' as part of a charity and awareness raising activity on homelessness. The Salvation Army provided some stark insights into the life of a homeless person as well as some sustenance in the form of hot soup. Students who participated represented their Form and gave feedback on their experiences in RE & Citizenship lessons this week. All students involved managed to stay out all night. Thank you to Miss Willis, who initiated the activity, and to Mr Phaup, Miss Ward and Mr Douhert, for their assistance.

GERMAN EXCHANGE
Many thanks to Mr Kreft and Ms Wind-Avery for leading a highly successful exchange. Mr Kreft writes : The exchange with our partner school in Koblenz is now 27 years old! It takes place every year and is still going strong. This year's party - taken from Years 9, 10 and 11 - flew to Germany for a ten day visit on 26 March and returned last Friday. During their stay, students stayed with families of students at Gymnasium auf dem Asterstein and learnt at first hand about life in the country whose language they are learning. The official programme included time in school, attending some lessons with their partners; a tour of the city and a welcome from the Mayor's representative; a boat trip on the Rhine and a visit to a medieval castle; a visit to Cologne with its wonderful cathedral and its equally attractive chocolate museum; a day at Phantasialand, Germany's largest theme park. In the evenings and at the weekend, students spent time with their partners and families, and there were all kinds of entertainments and visits provided. The group enjoyed themselves very much; we celebrated two birthdays during our stay and had a final meal together at the Weindorf. A most pleasant and successful experience and we hope that there will be more to follow.

MOBILE FIRE
By now, most will have heard the distressing news that one of our mobiles burnt down on Friday evening. Much student and staff work has been lost. The fire was speedily dealt with by the Fire Brigade and Police. The CNS Site Team managed the situation and its aftermath in an exemplary fashion and the necessary safety checks and re-arrangements were made over the weekend. The Police investigation into how the fire might have started continues. Any information that may be relevant should be passed directly to them.
PRESENT PERFORMANCE GRADES
As part of our ongoing feedback on progress, students in Years 8, 12 and 13 will today receive a summary of their present performance. For Year 8 students this will be an indication of Present Performance Levels and for Sixth Formers Present Performance Grades. Teachers make clear to students what their next steps should be in order to make further progress. Please ask for clarification if you are unsure.

YEAR 9 FOOTBALL TRIUMPH
The Year 9 boys' football team have had a highly successful and unbeaten season. This culminated on Tuesday with a 3-0 victory against Hellesdon HS to take the County Cup. Well done to the team and to their coach, Mr Sawyer.

This takes place this evening at 7.30pm in the Hall. Tickets are still on sale and will be available on the door, price £3. Good luck to all performers. If the rehearsals are anything to go by, we have a treat in store.
