TRAINING DAY
Next Friday, 16th October, is a staff training day and a holiday for all students. Staff will be preparing for the OFSTED inspection which begins on Monday week, 19th October.

SCHOOL COUNCIL
The first meeting of the School Council will take place on Tuesday week, 20th October, period 2, in Room 6. Miss Laight will act as facilitator for the Council this year and any items for the agenda should be given to her via year group councils by end of school on Thursday 15th October. The Head will be attending the meeting and would like the Council to consider the introduction of one-way systems throughout the school to avoid pressure on certain areas. A paper will be provided for Council members to look at before the meeting.

COMPUTERS FOR PARENTS
The third session of computer training for parents will take place at the school at 7.00 pm next Wednesday, 14th October. The activity for the evening will centre on creating spreadsheets.

THANKS FROM THE USA
Lucy Kaufman, from Pennsylvania, USA, who spent last year at CNS in Year 11, has sent a letter to staff and students, thanking everybody for their hospitality. On the basis of her time at CNS, Lucy thinks that the English school system compares favorably (sic!) with the American system.
CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Rachel Sadler of Year 10, whose poem 'Stick Thin Inc.' was selected as a runner-up in the 1998 Faber Poetry competition. And congratulations, too, to Kevin Coe of Year 13, who has been chosen to spend a day working with the producer of 'The Crucible' on an actual performance.

'THE CENTURY SPEAKS'

BBC Radio Norfolk is looking for people of all backgrounds and ages, young and old, male and female, black and white, rich and poor, who are prepared to talk about aspects of their lives. If you are interested in taking part, or can suggest anyone who might want to take part, ring the producer, Alison Turpin, on 01603 617411 during office hours.
