TRAINING DAY
Tomorrow, Friday, 16th October, is a staff training day and a holiday for all students. Staff will be preparing for the OFSTED inspection which begins next Monday, 19th October.

HALF TERM
The half-term break begins after school on Friday of next week, 23rd October. School resumes at 8.45 am on Tuesday 3rd November. Monday 2nd November is a staff training day and will deal with issues which have arisen from the OFSTED inspection.

CALENDAR CHANGES
There are changes to the dates published in the original calendar, following a review of the proposed reporting system and the re-introduction of parent-subject teacher consultation meetings for Years 8, 9 and 10. Details of the changes, together with information on the reporting schedule and system, will be prepared for parents shortly after half term.

CITY COUNCIL RECEPTION
Norwich City Council is holding an Open Day and Reception for Young People at City Hall on Thursday 12th November. CNS has some invitations for students of Year 10 and above and these will be distributed after half term, with priority going to members of the School Council. The City Council wants to involve young people in influencing its decision-making processes and the Open Day will involve keynote speeches, workshops and tours of City Hall and Norwich. CNS students come from all areas of the city of Norwich and we believe that their views will be worth hearing!
OFSTED INSPECTION
Inspectors from Kenwood Educational Associates, who have been contracted by OFSTED, will inspect CNS throughout next week, beginning on Monday 19th October. Mr Roy Hedge, the Registered Inspector, is in charge of the team. The inspectors will look at every aspect of the school: lessons will be observed, students' work will be scrutinised and behaviour and discipline will be judged as aspects of the school's efficiency and effectiveness. Parents have already been consulted through the meeting earlier this term and through the questionnaire they were invited to complete; the inspectors will look forward to meeting students and talking to them about their views of school life at CNS. The judgements the inspectors make are important: the report is a public document and will be in place for six years. We hope that everyone will want to present CNS at its best and will co-operate with the inspectors throughout the week. A good report will enhance the school's reputation and all students will benefit from the recognition.

SIXTH FORM CONCERT
A level Music students from Years 12 and 13 will be performing solo and small group pieces at a Chamber Concert in the Music/Drama area tonight, Thursday 15th October, at 7.30 pm. Admission to the Concert will be through the entrance to the Dining Room.

GOLF
Congratulations to the CNS Golf team of Simon Locke (11Sn), Sam Wigg (11Ck) and Ross Baker (10Rd), runners up out of 21 schools in the British Heart Foundation Regional Qualifying Competition held recently at Ipswich.
