GOOD REPORT
The school's senior management team received a verbal debrief from the OFSTED team at the end of the inspection week before half term. CNS is judged to be a good school with no significant weaknesses: strengths are the quality of teaching which achieves high standards, the range of extra-curricular activities with the opportunities for cultural development which are available to students, and the care shown in the support which is given to students with serious disabilities. All subjects are taught well, with Science, Music and Drama being identified as particularly strong. The draft written report will be presented to the governors on Monday and the full report will be publicly available by the end of the month. We hope that everybody connected with CNS will gain satisfaction and confidence from this verdict which will be in place for the next six years.

LUNCHTIMES
We are concerned about the behaviour of younger students during lunch breaks. Students are allowed to make use of form rooms and a range of areas within the school buildings: this is a privilege, not a right, and if behaviour does not improve, students will be required to spend their time outside the buildings.

YEAR 11
We were delighted to see so many Year 11 students and their parents at last night's meeting at which Sixth Form courses were presented. Prospectuses and further information are available in school to anyone who missed the meeting and there is also the opportunity to attend next Wednesday's presentation of courses which is aimed at students from schools other than CNS.
DATES
Here are some important dates for the second half of the Autumn term. Mock exams for Years 11 and 13 begin on Monday 30th November: students should have received their timetables and will have study leave for the duration of the exams. There are intake meetings for the Sixth Form on Wednesday 11th November and for Year 8 on Thursday 19th November and Tuesday 24th November. The School Association Quiz Evening is on Saturday 5th December and the Sixth Form Prizegiving is on Monday 15th December. Term ends after school on Friday 18th December.

TICKETS
Tickets for the school production of 'The Phantom Tollbooth' on Thursday 10th December and Friday 11th December, will be on sale in the Hall on Thursdays and Fridays from 1.00-1.20 pm, price £2 each. Tickets are also available from the Norwich Arts Centre for the concert on Saturday evening, 21st November, when saxophonist Andy Sheppard will be playing with the CNS Jazz Octet. This is a public concert, so make sure you get your tickets before they are all sold.
