END OF TERM
Term ends at 2.20 pm next Friday, 18th December. Lessons will be as normal throughout the morning, but there will be a shortened period 5 and period 6 will be cancelled. The Spring Term begins at 8.40 am on Monday 4th January.

OFSTED REPORT
The parents' summary of the OFSTED inspection report was issued to students in Years 8, 9, 10 and 12 yesterday, Thursday 10th December, to take home to parents. The date of issue to Year 11 and 13 students will be next Monday, 14th December. Please ensure that the return slip is given to tutors to acknowledge receipt of the report. The return slip also gives details on how to obtain copies of the full report, which will be available in different formats.

SIXTH FORM PRIZEGIVING
The Sixth Form prizegiving ceremony will take place in the School Hall at 7.30 pm, next Monday, 14th December. We look forward to seeing many former students, most of whom have completed their first term at University.

The prizes will be presented by Sir Geoffrey Allen, Chancellor of the UEA, who is a distinguished research scientist. After the formal ceremony, there will be a social gathering in the Sixth Form area.

ACHIEVEMENT ASSEMBLIES
Gold, silver and bronze awards will be presented in year group assemblies next week to those students in Years 8-11 who have gained most credits throughout the term.

Congratulations to those who will be receiving the certificates!
FOOD COLLECTION
Mr Burns would be grateful for donations of any items such as tinned food, tea, coffee, etc., which he will arrange to be distributed to local people in need this Christmas. Any items can be given to Mr Burns in Room 9 or handed in to the office by parents.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT
The Christmas Concert takes place next Thursday, 17th December, at 7.30 pm , in the School Hall. As always, the programme is very varied and involves a large number of students of all ages. There are items from the jazz bands, the school orchestra and the second orchestra and the choir, as well as from smaller instrumental groups. The audience will be invited to sing a carol at the end of the first half. Admission is by programme, priced at £3.00, available from the school office or the Music Department at any time before the Concert.

SPORT
Congratulations to Nick Baker of Year 12 who will be representing England in a junior swimming international in Italy during the holiday. And congratulations, too, to Lukman Hussin of Year 8, first in his class at the Norwich Open Orienteering Championships which were held recently.

PROTEST
Victoria Niroomand-Rad of Year 8 wrote to the Prime Minister to protest at the government's threat to bomb Iraq. Victoria received an acknowledgement from the Prime Minister's Correspondence Secretary and a detailed reply from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
