EATON ECHO

summer 98

Friday 18th December 1998 - No. 14.15

END OF TERM
Term ends at 2.20 pm today, Friday, 18th December. The Spring Term begins at 8.40 am on Monday 4th January.

LUNCHTIME SUPERVISION
There is a vacancy for a paid lunchtime supervisor at the school as from the start of next term. The job involves the supervision of students in various areas of the school from 12.45 pm until 1.45 pm on each school day.

There is a team of supervisors who share the duties with the Head, Deputy Heads and other teachers who volunteer to help. If any parent is interested in this vacancy and would like more information, please ring the school (454015) and give your name, telephone number and address.

The answering service will be switched on when the office is closed and your call will be responded to as quickly as possible.

GOVERNORS
The Governors discussed the report of the OFSTED inspection at their meeting on Wednesday and have asked the Echo to communicate their congratulations to staff and students on what they see as an excellent verdict.

They will be producing an action plan to address the small number of weaknesses which were identified and this will be produced for parents at the end of January.

The school will aim to send copies of the full report by e.mail, disc or hard copy by the end of the first week of next term.. If any parents would like to read the report immediately, they are welcome to come to the school and look at a copy.
QUIZ EVENING
The proceeds from the School Association's Quiz Evening, held on 5th December, amounted to £525. Thanks to Mrs Brenda Clarke who arranged the quiz for no fee, her fifteenth such quiz for CNS.

'The Phantom Tollbooth',
directed by Mrs Baylay and Miss McBain, was performed to packed houses last week. The cast and crew conjured up a magical production full of action, colour, comedy, music and props! The audience followed the fantasy journey of Milo (played by Josh Casey) through Dictionopolis and Digitopolis to the Castle in the Air, where he, Tock and Humbug (Sophie Lord and Lottie Fletcher) rescued Rhyme and Reason. The fabulous ensemble production incorporated the talent and skills of an energetic cast, competent technical crew and reliable backstage crew. Congratulations to everybody involved in the show!

ACHIEVEMENTS
Congratulations to the U19 Girls' Netball team who came third in the Norfolk Championships, missing out on a place in the final by one goal to Norwich High School. And congratulations to Heidi Sweeney of Year 9 who has passed her Grade 5 flute exam.
