YEAR 12

The parent-teacher consultation meeting for Year 12 takes place next Monday, 1st February, from 5.30 pm onwards.

LOCKERS

Students who owe money for the rental of their lockers should pay their dues to Mrs Kemp in the Finance Office: the preferred method of payment is a cheque made payable to ‘Eaton CNS School Fund Account’.

From Tuesday of next week, Mr Burns will be checking up on defaulters, so make sure you have paid up!

KICKING OUT RACISM

You may have read in the local papers of two Norwich City FC supporters who were arrested for making racist comments at a match and later convicted and banned from attending matches.

It was a CNS Sixth Form student who alerted the stewards and police to the men’s behaviour. Sadly we do not think that we should give his name because of the possibility of retaliation and victimisation by racist groups or individuals.

OFSTED ACTION PLAN

At their meeting next Tuesday, 2nd February, the governors will be finalising their action plan to address the three ‘key issues’ which the inspectors identified as areas for potential improvement.

The action plan will be issued to all students to take home to parents next Friday, 5th February. Thereafter, progress in achieving the improvements will be carefully monitored and the governors will write about this in their annual report to parents in May and will include the action plan as an agenda item at their annual meeting with parents in the same month.

CHARITIES WEEK

Yesterday, in the PEP period, all students were given information about Global Care’s Literacy Project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and information about the country itself and its many problems. The Democratic Republic of Congo was known as Zaire until 1997 and may still be called by that name in some reports: the country should not be confused with Congo which has a separate identity. Global Care have written to CNS saying how delighted they are that we are supporting this project.

Many proposals have been received for activities and events for Charities Week and many of the old favourites will be revived. We are finalising dates and times and will publish the full programme of ‘what’s on’ by the middle of next week.

Sponsorship forms are available from today via Heads of Year, so begin to collect your pledges and promises. There are still opportunities to arrange more activities and events, particularly if they are arranged outside school for an evening or part of a weekend. Any further suggestions to the office, please.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Congratulations to Sarah Larner and Natalie Humphrey of Year 10 who have been selected for football training as members of Norwich City’s school of excellence for female players.

And congratulations to those CNS runners who competed in the recent Norwich City cross-country competition. Seven have been selected in various age categories to represent the city in the Norfolk County championships.

And, belatedly, congratulations to Imogen Clayton of 8Sr, winner of the Year 8 ‘December’ poetry competition.
