HALF TERM

The half term break begins after school next Friday, 12th February. School resumes at 8.45 am on Monday 22nd February.

OFSTED ACTION PLAN

Today all students have been issued with the action plan which the Governors have produced to address the key issues identified in the OFSTED report: it is a legal requirement that all parents should have a copy of the plan and this should be taken home today.

The Governors will tell parents of the progress which is being made to address these issues in their annual report and at their meeting with parents in May.

SCHOOL ASSOCIATION

The Association’s Annual Jumble Sale will take place on Saturday 6th March at Eaton Parish Hall on Colman Road. Jumble can be brought to the school office at any time, so if you are thinking of a half term Spring Clean, please let us have your unwanted items.

There is a Quiz Night on Saturday 13th March at 7.30 pm: details in next week’s Echo.

MATHS CLUB

A Maths Club has been formed for students in all year groups and will meet at 1.10 in Room M5 on Mondays in Week 1 and Tuesdays in Week 2.

If you are interested in puzzles ( can you put 9 tennis balls into 4 bags so that there is an odd number in each bag?), games ( Khun Phaen?) or conundrums (is ‘no’ the answer to this question?) then come along on Monday to this new club. We access the internet and if you e.mail your solutions back they may be published worldwide.

CHARITIES WEEK

Charities Week begins on Monday and the programme of activities is printed on the back of this Echo. Please support the events and help the children of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In period 6 next Friday, a number of students will be on sponsored runs or walks (including a three-legged walk around the school field). If any other students would like to join them, they are welcome to do so, but must show evidence of having been sponsored for a reasonable amount.

It is possible to arrange sales and sponsored events outside school after Charities Week and we will provide information so that people outside the school know the purpose of the collection. We would also welcome contributions from parents who might like to organise collections in their workplaces: again, information is available for collection from the office.

Let’s make this Charities Week the best yet and really help the children of DR of Congo: so much can be done for so little!

DRAMA

The Lynx Touring Theatre Company performed a show for all Year 8 students yesterday morning.

Year 13 students will be visiting London next Tuesday to see the RSC’s production of ‘The Tempest’; this follows a visit to the same company’s ‘Merchant of Venice’ by Year 11 students on 8th January.

GIRLS FOOTBALL

Congratulations to Victoria Fowler, Sarah Larnder, Jo Keatley and Vicky Stephens who represented Norfolk in an U16 football match against Suffolk last week.
