Friday 21st May 1999 - No. 14.32

HALF TERM
The half term holiday begins at 3.25 pm next Friday, 28th May. School resumes at 8.45 am on Monday 7th June.

EXAMINATIONS
Written GCSE and A level examinations begin next Monday for students in Years 11 and Year 13: timetables and rooming arrangements have been published. Students in other year groups are asked to be quiet in the vicinity of any room where an examination is being held.

YEAR 13
Timetabled lessons for A level students in Year 13 end after period 4 next Friday, 28th May. We wish all our students every success in their exams and thank them for the contribution they have made to CNS, in many cases over the past six years.

NATIONAL HONOURS
Congratulations to Nicola Barker of Year 10 who has been selected to represent Great Britain in the World Sailing Championships, which will held at Athens, Greece, in July. Nicola is competing in a 420 class boat. Nicola is the third CNS student, to our knowledge, who has been selected to compete for her country this year. Charity Barnes in Year 8 plays for the English Badminton team and Nick Baker of Year 12 has represented the country at swimming.

MUSIC
Becky Harris of Year 10 has been chosen to take part in workshops with the Bach Players, before taking part in a performance of 'Dido and Aeneas' at the King Of Hearts, Fye Bridge Street, on Saturday 29th May. Congratulations to Becky!
GOVERNORS/PARENTS MEETING
The annual meeting of Governors with Parents takes place next Thursday, 27th May, at 7.30 pm in the Drama Area. All parents have been issued with the annual report and there will be an opportunity to discuss any issues which arise from the report- and from the OFSTED inspection report and action plan. Additionally, the School Council has produced a paper on school uniform proposals, following a survey of all students, and there is the first draft of the Home-School Agreement, both of which will be open to discussion. The Governors look forward to a large attendance of parents for what should prove to be an interesting meeting.

SUMMER FETE
The Summer Fete takes place on Saturday 26th June and the School Association Committee asks you to put the date in your diary. Any suggestions or offers of help are very welcome at this stage- please contact the school office. Over the next few weeks the Echo will give more information and make some specific requests for help- please watch this space.

SUMMER CONCERT
As announced in a previous Echo, the Summer Concert will take place next Friday, 28th May, in the School Hall. As usual, the programme is very varied, with jazz, classical, choral, orchestral and solo items. The concert will put the spotlight on CNS musicians who will be leaving this school this term, most of whom have been concert stalwarts for many years. Their musicianship and their hard work will be greatly missed in the new school year.
