Friday 28th May 1999 - No. 14.33

HALF TERM
The half term holiday begins after school today, Friday 28th May. School resumes at 8.45 am on Monday 7th June.

YEAR 13
Lessons for Year 13 end after period 4 today, Friday 28th May. Many students have already taken some written papers and all will be involved after the half term holiday. We hope that revision is going well and wish all our students every success in their exams. School books should be handed back to subject teachers once the exams have been completed.

SCHOOL EXAMS
School examinations for Years 8, 9, 10 and 12 begin on Monday 14th June. Timetables have already been published and students should have their own record of when each exam takes place. Good planning and organisation are key factors in ensuring that students realise their potential in examinations.

YEAR 10
Reports for all Year 10 students were issued at registration yesterday afternoon and should have been handed to parents. The reports contain important evidence of the extent to which students are performing in relation to their target grades. All Year 10 students have an Academic Tutor who will pay particular attention to the reports and who will discuss any issues of concern with students after the half term break and yesterday's PEP lesson focussed on revision skills for the coming exams.
GOVERNORS' MEETING
Parents who attended last night's meeting with Governors received copies of a survey relating to school uniform which involved responses by staff and students. Any possible changes to uniform cannot occur before September 2000 and governors will give consideration to all points of view before deciding their response. A draft copy of the Home-School Agreement which must be in place by September was also issued at the meeting. All parents will be issued with a final draft in mid-June and there will be an opportunity to comment on the document. Copies of both documents are now available from the school office: both issues affect parents and any response will be very welcome.

SUMMER FETE
Detailed information on the Summer Fete, to be held on Saturday 28th June, is printed on the back of this copy of the Echo.

SUMMER CONCERT
The Summer Concert, featuring students who will be leaving CNS this term, takes place this evening in the School Hall at 7.30 pm. Tickets are available at the door.

DUKE OF EDINBURGH AWARD
Last weekend, 22nd and 23rd May, thirteen Year 10 students, led by Miss McBain, Dr Knott and Mr Rowe, completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award practice expedition at Trimingham in North Norfolk. The practice was very successful, so congratulations to the students and good luck for their final expedition in June.
