YEAR 8
The meeting for parents of Year 8 students with Form Tutors takes place next Thursday evening, 23rd September. The meeting is phased, and parents should note the time of their meeting. A letter about the meeting was issued on Tuesday

INFORMATION
Students and parents have received, or will be receiving, a considerable amount of information via Form Tutors. Today, the copy of the home-school agreement, together with a letter and a reply slip, has been issued to students in Years 8-11 to take home to parents. Please read the letter and the agreement carefully and sign and return the reply slip.

Additionally, the local authority asks parents of all students to complete a return on ethnic grouping, which again should be returned to the school. Last Tuesday, all students in Years 8-11 should have taken home information relating to the funding of higher education and notice of a meeting on 28th September. If parents do not receive what has been issued, please ring the school office, so that spares can be sent to you.

EXAMS AND TESTS
All Year 11 students have received a written statement of the grade they achieved in the first part of their GCSE Science exam which was taken last term. And this morning, all Year 8 students sat the MIDYIS test which will allow us to set minimum target grades for all subjects at Key Stage 3.

Next Monday, 20th September, Year 10 students will take the YELLIS test which will set target grades for all GCSE courses.
SCHOOL ASSOCIATION
The Association is hoping to get this year's events off to a lively start with a Ceilidh which will take place on Saturday 16th October. It should be a great evening- please make a date in your diary and look out for more details in next week's Echo.

The Association's AGM takes place on Wednesday 29th September in the Hall. Please come along to find out what the Association has achieved this year. It is your chance to get involved, either on a regular basis as part of an enthusiastic, friendly team or as an occasional helper or supporter at events. And a reminder for committee members: the first meeting is on Tuesday 21st September.

ART
Yesterday, Thursday 16th September, Year 10 students studying GCSE Art visited the Surrealist exhibition in the Castle Museum. The visit was arranged by the new Art teaching team of Mr Hadden, Mrs Maddocks and Mrs Ramshaw.

MUSIC
Timetables for instrumental tuition are now posted in the Music Department -and are also available on the Music site of the school's website. Congratulations to Becky Harris, Simon Bradshaw and Ainsley Mayhew-Seers who are providing a musical interlude at a conference at the UEA today. Last Sunday, Becky and former student Sarah Masson performed at a concert featuring those who gained exceptional scores in this year's music grade exams.

WELCOME
We welcome Mrs Ramshaw (Design & Technology and Art) to the CNS teaching staff.
