HALF TERM
The half-term holiday for students starts after school on Thursday 21st October: Friday 22nd October is a staff training day. School resumes at 8.45 am on Monday 1st November.

YEAR 13
Next Wednesday, 20th October, from 5.30 pm until 7.30 pm, the subject leaders of Chemistry, Physics, PE and Psychology are offering parents the opportunity to receive an update on progress on these modular A level courses. This is not an official parent-teacher consultation meeting but an additional opportunity created by the teachers of the subjects. The location of the meeting within the school has yet to be decided, but students will be made aware in advance of the meeting.

CHERNOBYL APPEAL
There is a meeting next Wednesday, 20th October, in the school hall for parents of Year 8 and 9 students who may be interested in hosting a child from Chernobyl, Belarus, next summer. This follows Mr Banfield's letter, giving details of the charity which CNS will be supporting in its annual Charities Week in February.

'OUR WORLD' CONFERENCE
Yesterday, Thursday 14th October, all Year 12 students took part in a whole-day conference jointly organised by CNS and NEAD. This is the sixth year that a conference of this sort has been organised at the school. Over 200 students took part in workshops designed to heighten their awareness of multi-cultural and third world issues. Thanks to the workshop leaders for agreeing to spend a day at CNS and sharing their knowledge and experience with our students.
CEILIDH
There is still the opportunity to buy the few remaining tickets for the School Association Ceilidh, tomorrow night, Saturday 16th October, from 7.30 pm until 11.00pm. Ring Theresa Easter on 01603 501046 or take your chance at the door on the night. We look forward to seeing many of you at this family event.

FUN RUN
Details of next Wednesday's Fun Run are printed on the back of this Echo. We hope the weather stays fine for the afternoon and that everybody will be aiming to cover as many laps as possible. Keep looking for sponsorship: we need that minibus! And don't forget to give your Form Tutor £1 if you decide to 'wear your own clothes'.

EQUALITY GROUP
The Anti-Racist and Amnesty groups have combined as the Equality Group and meet each Wednesday at 1.00 pm in Room 43. The group will be selling Christmas Cards in November to raise funds for the Stephen Lawrence Trust and for Amnesty International. The Equality Group arranged for the 'Roots of the Future' exhibition, celebrating the contribution of ethnic minority people to Norfolk, to be displayed in the hall from 4th to 12th October.

ESSAY PRIZE WINNER
Congratulations to Christina Christov of 8Ud who has won the runner-up prize in the World Mental Health Day essay competition. Christina was presented with her prize last Sunday by Trisha Goddard of Anglia Television.
