INTAKE MEETINGS
The second intake meeting for Year 8 took place on Tuesday: both meetings were exceptionally well attended. Thanks to all who helped to make the evenings such a success: to parents from the School Association who provided refreshments, to the many students who helped subject departments, acted as guides or helped with car parking, and to the staff whose preparations and efforts on the evenings were greatly appreciated by our visitors. We look forward to receiving our millennium intake in September.

PARENT GOVERNOR
One nomination for the parent governor vacancy was received, that of Mrs Margaret Sparrow. In accordance with regulations, notice of the result was posted in the Hall on Wednesday. If no objections are received by Wednesday 7th December, Mrs Sparrow will become a governor from that date.

CHRISTMAS LUNCH
Christmas lunch will be served on Wednesday 15th December: details of the menu are printed on the back of this copy of The Echo. The price of the lunch is £2.00 and staff and students must purchase a ticket from the Finance Office before Monday 6th December.

CNSU DINNER
The Annual Dinner of the CNS Union takes place in the School Hall next Friday, 3rd December at 7.30 for 8.00 pm. Any member of staff or former student is welcome to attend: ask the school office for the CNSU contact number.

WANTED
Flute, in good condition. Telephone 454397.
SCHOOL ASSOCIATION
The School Association's Quiz Evening on Saturday 4th December is only eight days away. It is a fun evening and very popular, so please do not delay in buying your tickets either from the school office or from Theresa Easter on 01603 501046. Donations of raffle prizes for the evening will be very welcome. The Association Ceilidh held in October was a great success and raised £321.61. Events such as the Quiz, the Ceilidh, the Fete and other fund-raising ventures have allowed the Association to present a cheque for £4000 to help pay for the new minibus.

'TOAD OF TOAD HALL'
Tickets for the Lower School production of 'Toad of Toad Hall' are on sale, price £2.00, in the Hall at lunchtimes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The performance dates are Wednesday 7th December and Thursday 8th December, with both performances starting at 7.30 pm in the Drama Studio. Over 50 students are involved in the production, so buy your tickets soon to avoid disappointment.

FIRE ALARMS
Two false alarms have occurred this week, with the students responsible claiming that, in each case, the alarm point was damaged accidentally. In the first case, the alarm was known to be false very quickly, so an evacuation was unnecessary. In the second case, at lunchtime, the whole school was evacuated, causing great inconvenience (and anxiety) to a large number of people. Raising a false alarm is a criminal offence and notice is given to all students that any future claim of accidental damage to the alarm points will be rejected. The person responsible will face a fixed-term exclusion and the incident will be reported to the police.
