Thursday 16th December 1999 - No. 15.15

END OF TERM
Term ends at 2.20 pm tomorrow, Friday, 17th December. There will be normal lessons throughout the morning and a half-hour period with Form Tutors from 1.50 pm until 2.20 pm. We come back in the new millennium to the beginning of the Spring Term on 4th January 2000.

PRIZEGIVING
The first school event of the new millennium is on Thursday 6th January 2000, when prizes and commendations will be presented to students of last year's Year 13. All students who gained A levels or GNVQs of any grade are welcome to attend: we think that the gaining of these qualifications deserves at least a commendation!

MOCK EXAMS
Mock exams for Years 11 and 13 take place between 10th and 21st January. Year 11 have study leave during the exam period, as do Year 13, but students in Year 13 should attend specially timetabled lessons for all modular courses which they are studying. Students should ensure that they copy their timetables today or tomorrow so that they can plan their revision over the holiday.

STAMPS
We have a request from the 1st Attleborough Badger Cub Scouts for used postage stamps (UK or foreign). The cub pack is collecting the stamps for The Leprosy Mission as part of the Cubs' World Friendship badge. A collecting box will be in the Hall from tomorrow.
MENINGITIS IMMUNISATION
Students in Years 11, 12 and 13 were given meningitis immunisations last Friday. If any student from these year groups missed the immunisations, they are advised to go to a 'catch up' clinic in the area in which they live: the Health Authority will be publishing dates and times for this opportunity. Please note that these immunisations will not be carried out at school and are not available from your family doctor.

YEAR 11 SCIENCE
Students who missed the Year 10 GCSE exam will take this paper this year along with current Year 10 students. Any student who wishes to retake this exam can do so, but should be aware that the second result replaces the first, even if the new result is worse. A fee will be charged for the retake: if you wish to retake the exam, please return your exam entry sheet to Mr Rymarz as soon as possible.

CONCERT
Don't forget tonight's Christmas Concert in the Hall at 7.30 pm: admission is by programme, available at the door. Apart from the traditional Christmas elements of the concert, there is Gershwin's 'Rhapsody in Blue' and also a new departure into Latin American music.
